Amazon steps in to "save the day"

The monopoly grows as will subscription fees. Insane that we got to this point, but people are just fed up with the insanity that pervades our country today. And here ware, forced to scramble (unless the reader has been paying attention to the multitudes of updates and insight YOU have given us!!! ...) just to watch a game. If the current C-19 status gets worse, I could see "some" trying to take advantage of it....and trying to impact society again. If that's the case, I foresee a huge storm brewing because the public is fairly fed up with the crap that's going on now (BOTH parties, folks......I'm not singling out 1 party or the other.....they're all corrupt people).

Absolute power corrupts. Absolutely.

In the middle of all of this, the purchase price could end up going to Comcast for the remaining 1/3 of Hulu. That debate is not going well for the ownership group. there is some under verified stuff that makes this mess way worse than it already is. My hope is that Amazon pumps a chunk of change to the league to help get things caught up

Remember, Standard Oil was broken up into more than 100 entities because they controlled just over 60% of the oil industry. Microsoft was broken up for bundling Internet Explorer with Windows. AT&T was broken up for controlling less than 41% of the phone market. American Tobacco Company controlled about 80% of the tobacco industry. US Steel controlled about 60% of the steel industry.

Now, we have just three pharmaceutical companies, Google controls 92% of internet traffic and 57% of streaming traffic, along with nearly 70% of the smart phone market. What they don't have in the smart phone market is left for Apple. Both bundle their browsers with their operating systems and control their app stores. Amazon controls more than half of the US retail industry. Disney controls 40% of the movie, news television industry (News Corp was broken up in 2013 for owning less than 30%) and bans the few remaining broadcasters from publishing their content. About 80% of food is controlled by just five companies, one of which is owned by Brazil and one of which is owned by China.

There are monopolies everywhere in America but as long as the politicians, media and universities financially benefit from those monopolies, nothing will ever be done about them. The biggest monopolies are essentially exempted and just referred to as cartels. It's we, the consumers who will continued to be hammered while the politicians will literally hold press conferences to brag creating jobs after banning people from working or reducing the growth rate of inflation. Not reducing actual inflation, but a tiny reduction in the growth of the inflation. They mock us by passing an "Inflation Reduction Act" that had nothing to do with reducing inflation, and in fact, massively increased it. Those of us who just want to watch hockey games better plan on paying way, way more to do so. The alternative is paying ridiculous ticket prices to watch them in person. Heck, even when the tickets are available for lower amounts, Ticket Master or Stub Hub will charge you $20 to $30 for the "convenience" of buying tickets through them, but hey, we can always just eat cake.

If you can, try and find an SNL sketch from 2009 (it was the news and I believe Tina Fey was at the desk). 2 rulings (one in the 80s and one in 1996) broke up Bell Telephone. It was essentially put right back together through back channels. It’s a funny skit amidst a sad reality. Thank you. You give a ton of insight and I really appreciate what you bring to all of this
