Isn’t that what’s essentially being reported? He wants some personal time hence the immediate buyout of a contract just signed on this past July 1st. I’m guessing with the lightning being so willing that it’s something personally notable and he deserves the chance to step away from the game.

He missed a chunk of time with myocarditis in early 2022. He was unvaccinated. Don’t know if he still is.

Oh I get that, but for him to sign just this past July 1st for two years and then step away from hockey due to something personal makes me feel bad for the guy, hopefully it’s something he can overcome. But yeah, as for the team replacing him it isn’t a difficult chore.

I hope he's OK. We know how much these guys love the game. It had to be something important to walk away from a 2-yr contract with a contender.
