Didn't Steinbrenner fire Billy Martin in 1980 before he ever coached a game for them? He got into a fist fight with a reporter or something like that. That was his second or third round coaching for the Yankees though.

That's a subjective definition, "futility", if not winning the Stanley Cup, which I fully understand is the ultimate goal, is the definition of futility there's going to be a lot of futility banners hanging from NHL arenas.

In the past 48 NHL seasons there are 13 current teams (almost half) who've not won a cup, including the Flyers, at least they can mass produce them LOL.

Clearly he knew something was going to come out and he just wants that to be kept private. My personal opinion. The money isn't an issue as he's already made out handsomely in his NHL coaching career.
