Michael DeRosa: Canucks Trade Tanner Pearson & Pick to Canadiens
- Michael DeRosa

Seems like a good trade, the 3rd round pick in 2025 will be a very late 3rd round pick, which chances are will never make the NHL.

So Desmith plays ahead of Martin?
I’m not familiar.

Pearson wasn’t a fit for the team this year.
He’ll probably go all Tofolli for Mtl now that he’s healthy.

- dbot

Desmith has a career .912 in 134 games in Pit, I think he's better than Martin. Either way, good insurance.

Yeah, I can't wait for Pearson to score 2 goals the first time Mtl plays Van

He's vans back up. Only thing that makes sense. 1 season left... NHL salary and experience. Silovs needs games to develop. Martin is useless...

Canucks were looking to move Pearson, as the Habs were doing with DeSmith. Pearson's salary of 3M + was the reason for the pick, even if it is just a single season. He has a chance to prove he's not done or this could be it.

I think Canucks could have traded a third for DeSmith alone just to upgrade on Martin.

I was wanting to see Pearson back but am not sad to see him go. Habs fans on CF have been throwing out this trade for weeks. No surprise.

Still two seasons before we know where Canucks pick will end up. Van can be Cup winners by then or lose Petterson and be lottery bound.

Just called Tanner Pearson, he was not in mood to talk which is understandable.

Has been through a lot in the last few months.

A popular player who will be missed in the Canucks dressing room.

I also liked Pearson, I think he was one of the few that would engage in battles along the boards, but I think the cap was also an issue that needed to be addressed.

I like booners thought of only 1 year and getting Silos experienced enough to take over that role of backup.

I definitely agree with the apparent plan of giving Silovs another full year in the AHL as starter. You could even have Martin as the primary call-up option just to guarantee Silovs more games.

Definitely on both statements. Canucks goaltending is going to be good. Clarke doing an excellent job.

I wish it was Beau going instead of Pearson but the team did what they did and best of luck to TP.

Yes I agree about 2 seasons to go but I happen to be more optimistic about the direction Allvin is trying to implement and I believe that this core group will be staying together and in the playoffs.

Now WTF do I know, SFA, the same as everyone posting here just a homer in rose coloured glasses I guess.

Larry Curly Moe and Schemp.

I cannot wait to hear all the accolades Ray gives the team now that they are lining his pockets.

I don't know Tomlinson, but seems like the Canucks will continue to have one of the best broadcast crews in the league.

I don't mind him either. At least when he comments, he has professional hockey experience to back it up.

Rick D:
Casey DeSmith is ecstatic to get to Vancouver.

His agent now represents both goalies in VAN - Thatcher Demko and DeSmith.
