Just saw yesterday Torts presser. Personally, I feel this is the one time he wasn’t unfair of his assessment of anyone, including Frost.

So a station that never/ever talks about the Flyers is gonna broadcast the game? Right, got it! Can't wait until that sad sack station goes belly up and starts playing music again. Eh what?

Kind of feel bad for Allison, he knows he is a bubble player and stated so in his presser.

Torts just doesn't like Frost and he wants him outta here! That's a big problem with Torts. Once he decides that he doesn't like a player there is no turning back and that's a terrible way to manage people/players. Ya gotta give folks a chance and Torts just doesn't seem to do that.

I don't get the Tort hates Frost issue either. Torts first praised him when he said he came along way from where he was at the beginning of last season to where he ended up. Torts and management know there is more there for Frost to give and they have high expectations for him.

it is clear to me the coach isnt a Frost fan. Hell they allegedly tried to trade him to after he signed his deal.

Whether he can push the right button we shall see. Will he get the same leash as Cates?

Torts didn’t say anything bad. Frost is an offensive center. Cates is currently a defensive center. He wants to see more of the other side of that game from both. Or at least more balance.

Why the Cates hate Tomahawk?

I get that you don't like Tortorella, but whats that have to do with Cates? He had a damn good rookie season and there is reason to believe he can add to his offensive game.

Interesting comments from Torts yesterday pertaining to Cates and Frost. It seemed clear to me Torts loves Cates (no surprise) and thinks he has more offensive upside and will challenge Frost for the 2C, presuming Couts is healthy and remains at 1C. Also though Torts did compliment Frost, it seemed more like a backhanded compliment and that there is still some doubt there.

We can stream 12U softball games but the Flyers can't stream a preseason game? BOOOOO

What's wrong with that? Torts doesn't like Frost and thinks Cates is better. I agree with him. Frost is going to have to beat out Cates for the 2C role on the team. The only concern I have is a potential conflict between Briere, who I believe likes Frost and Torts, who clearly does not.

Almost 40 points playing center for the first time in his career on a bad offensive team. I think Cates has offensive upside and it would not surprise me to see Cates get up to 60 points with the minutes and playing with other good offensive players. I think Cates has Frost beat in terms of defensive play, puck battles, etc. but to get the 2C job he is going to have to score more.

Cates and Frost are two different players. Their is room for both. Why does it need to be Cates v. Frost? Play Cates in defensive situations and play Frost in offensive situations a majority of the time. Utilize what each player is good at.

He got 38 pts as the team's de facto 1C, and he got a lot of PP time. That's not a good result. But like you said, he was playing C for the first time and was new to the league.

Coots will cut into his icetime and usage this season (assuming Coots can play)... so Cates will have to really develop offensively to match his #'s from last season playing as 2C/3C w/ limited PP time.

do not see cates sniffing 60 points. Thats also ok by the way.
