Karine Hains: In Hainsight: Another Loss Against the Light Version of the Leafs It may only be preseason games and the result doesn’t really matter, but the way the Canadiens have just dropped two games against a very watered-down version of the Leafs is somewhat worrying.

Armia is still there because he already has a chair in the line-up as St-Louis would say, but his seatbelt isn’t fastened, and he looks like a crash test dummy to me these days.

yeah, it's always been the same story with Armia, very frustrating to watch a guy that everyone knows has an interesting set of hockey skills and can throw his weight around, but rarely ever puts those attributes to good use.

There are a few players in trouble of losing their jobs.

Armia might start the season with the team, but when Dvorak comes back and if a guy like Pez can play hard every shift... Barron has literally also played his way off the team. He has had a brutal camp and with the prospect in the pipeline, might never be a full time roster player in Montreal.

1st line:
I think the slot beside CC-Suzuki is still open, but no one seems to be grabbing it. Newhook may win it by default (who really should be the 3rd line center until Dvorak comes back). But they more likely stick Anderson there. Long shot is Pearson.

2nd line:
I expect the 2nd line to be Monahan-Dach-Slaf to start the season. Whether Slaf can stick in the top 6 for the season is questionable. If he cannot, he should spend some time in Laval, Like CC did a few years back.

3rd line:
MSL seems to like the idea of RHP and Gallagher on the same line, so insert Newhook now, until Dvorak is ready

4th line:
That leaves Jake Evans with a rotating cast of characters named Armia, Pezzetta, and Pearson.

When Dvorak comes back, I think Armia is done. But maybe that is more hope than reality.

Good read and observations, Karine, for sure Barron looked just unprepared and out of sync.

And Pat, regarding the Bruins, who cares? Although hopefully the Rat captain will go down with the sinking ship.

very different player, and he makes a difference during a game way more often than Armia ever could. the comparison doesn't make much sense imho.

yes, I know

I just wanted to test the theory that since Pete calls MB "Bergeron", then following this logic he probably calls the other guy Patrice Bergevin. looks like it's confirmed.

and yeah, Marchand as captain should be entertaining to watch at times this year lol.

I think Anderson has had a decent camp, from what I watched.

At least there is effort, even if he is not am impact, the same cannot be said for Armia.

EDIT: I assume we are not talking about Lias Andersson

yeah, well it would still be a bit unfair for Lias since he just got here and doesn't hold the same extensive track record as Armia of establishing what is basically one giant disappearing act that lasts the whole year. not yet at least lol.

Monty proving to all he is not a #1....which means the Habs will roster two backup goalies. Is there even a possible #1 in the system? Dobes ?

Please spare me how great the number of shots taken is, they are not going in, so it is a deceptive statistic. Goal scoring, or lack there of, seems to be a consistent issue.

Newhook looking exactly as advertised, just doesn't fit......

I keep reading about how this roster is so set, only a few openings.....WTH? There are openings all over it, and none of the young guys are making it hard to send them down. This roster is going to get a pick in the top five.....
