Torts said he was uncertain yesterday as to what the lines/personnel will be (basically whether Poehling or Brink sits and, if Poehling is on, whether he starts at 3C or 4C). We'll see later and I'll update the blog accordingly. |

I have to say that I am mildly shocked that Cates is on the 4th line. I did not think Torts would demote his favorite player.

I honestly don't understand all the Deslauriers hate. The guy plays 9 minutes a game on the 4th line and does a good job in that role including providing a physical presence in the lineup, and we have already seen the need for such a presence this season. Who else do you feel should be playing on the 4th line in his place for 9 minutes a game? |

Laughton wouldnt stand for playing on the 4th line so Torts has no choice.

Did you not notice Cates was demoted to the 4th line last game?

Who in the Carolina lineup provides a need for a "physical presence"? Toronto already benched the guy they brought in to provide a "physical presence" and have not suffered one bit. |

Erik Karlsson is +8 and has 15 points in 14 games. I'm shocked and amazed that moving to Pittsburgh has seen his plus minus turn around from what it was on the San Jose Sharks, even though he's scoring points at about the same rate. Nobody could have predicted that. |

You know who has impressed me so far? Washington. No Backstrom and a slow start from OV. 8-4-2. Shut out Vegas last night. |

He doesn't do a good job and there is zero need for that presence.

When has there been a need for a knuckle checker this season? Maybe the Flyers should ice a 4th line that has some skill and can actually carry the play instead of the current line who statistically spends the majority of their time on ice hemmed into the d zone? |

mixing some younger guys in, but was surprised Matthew Phillips is listed at 5'7" 140 lbs. on capfriendly.

I did not notice that. I don't believe that makes sense anyway, I think Cates should be the 3C. He has to develop and struggle through things just like the other kids on the team, it's just part of the process. I think Laughton on the 4th line with Hathaway and Deslauriers looked good for the most part, though I wonder how it would look with Hathaway-Peohling-Laughton as a 4th line? In the end, Laughton needs to play more than 10 minutes a night. |

Yup, I agree, they need time to reset, practice and then get right back out there. |
