I’m giving them a solid “B”. Talent wise this is about what we can expect.

The Flyers brass wouldn’t know accountability if it smacked them in the face, least of all Tortorella. Everything they do is simple projection and the reason they hired Tortorella in the first place was to take the heat off themselves and place the “accountability” and “the standard” nonsense onto the players.

Yet many easy marks were fooled.

He was just cleared for full-contact practice on Tuesday and practiced fine with no setbacks. However, he needs to get into another full practice or two before he's ready to play. There was no practice on Wed (game day in Elmont), Thursday (Thanksgiving), Friday (afternoon game), today (evening game back in Elmont) and won't be one tomorrow (team-wide off day).

I'm sure that Ristolainen has been skating on his own this past week but needs more practice time after missing most of the preseason and the entire regular season to date. I'm also expecting rough patches when he first gets back into the lineup. It's hard to jump right in.

Sure but does every player get punished for not back checking? I don't want to keep harping on Frost but the coach looks a 4th line role player who is a grinder like Poehling. His approach is that he wants to get that player going offensively, so he elevates him in the lineup. What does he do to help get Frost going offensively? He scratches him. Frost had two sup par games to start the season and then sits for what, 7 games? He comes back in had 3 points in 4 games. Plays one subpar game and sits again for how many games? There is never going to be complete consistency across the board but Tortorella takes it to extreme, extremes. Often irrationally so. He buried Frost on the 4th line in the start of the 22/23 season and he buried him on the scratch list in 23/24. Despite the production Frost had in 22/23. That is a conscious effort that no matter what Frost does, he's not going to like him as a player. Is that accountability?

It’s getting crazy. They can’t score and he sits. You could have made an argument that you didn’t want to change stuff up because they were on a winning streak but now we’ve lost two games in a row, soon to be 3 and he continues to sit.

@mjl, you post that you don’t want to keep harping on Frost and yet you keep harping on Frost. The coach doesn’t like him, period. Briere should either force Frost into the lineup or trade him, and do either one immediately. It’s not good for the team or the player to keep this up like this. With only 3 goals in their last two games, it’s a perfect time to get Frost back in there.
