Kane wasn't signing with Chicago so (in my opinion) it doesn't matter where he signs. Kane has given enough to this franchise (and the league), he's earned the right to sign with the team he feels will give him the best chance at success.
The Wings are currently a playoff team and I think they have a solid chance at being at least a wild card team come the playoffs.

Agreed....still despise the Wings but happy for Kane and don't blame him. Way different than Chelios saga.
Sad thing is the Hawks don't have a true rival anymore. Miss the Norris days of stars, blues, wings, and leafs. Blues view the Hawks more as a rival than hawks do blues.
I am sure one will separate itself once the team steps back into the playoff light....but Hawks seeing the Wings as many times as they do the Sabres doesn't seem right. I get why Detroit pushed to move to the east given time zones and playing out west.....but it sucks with 5 of the 6 O6 in the eastern conference.

Perry is trash. I never wanted him in Chicago to begin with. Proof is in, he's out. Bad pickup. You see what kind of character this man has with the scummy way he played hockey. It was disappointing Hawks fans in here accepted him so easily. (frank) that poop. It would have taken multiple years for that guy to ever earn my respect. Good riddance to bad rubbish. Stupid piece of poop had one job to do in Chicago, play hard, play smart, be a good role model and citizen and show the kids how it is done. Problem is he was never qualified for that role to begin with.

NHL contracts have a morality clause where you can be terminated for something deemed damaging to the reputation of the team or league, though that wouldn't require waivers either, so this is just a straight release scenario.

Isn't there a general conduct clause in all contracts? I would expect relationships with another player's immediate family member without disclosure to the org. would be a violation of that clause. NBA and NFL teams have that in their standard contracts for relationships with immediate family members, cheerleaders, etc.

Well Perry gone only translates into a more likely outcome to finish with a lottery pick. The odds in the drawing might be better but we really cannot ascribe a much greater likelihood to get a top oh say top three choice.
I doubt that KD will part with any descent prospect or any early draft choices for someone who would possess some of the elements in Perry’s game
I also would bet that at this time in the rebuild there is no interest even if at a bargain price to add Laine. The Columbus GM knows Laine has to fetch a good price and probably doesn’t want to trade him anyway. There is a lot of potential in many young players in Columbus and if they ripen then the team as well as Laine should post better numbers.
Even A Boqvist employed mainly as a PP role, could post some nice numbers. Lately he had dressed and played consecutive games but receives under 15 TOI. T Johnson breakout as a scoring #2 center represents one of the young players whose output could affect Laine’s production too. The greater number of players performing well could become a boost perhaps as soon as later this season if Johnson returns and is better

Rumors alone wouldn't be getting Perry terminated. CHI is definitely wise enough (now) to properly investigate rumors and determine the veracity. While I hope for the rumor to be true, I doubt it is. Would be hilarious beyond words. Regardless, this is exactly why I HATE the notion that veteran players bring valuable intangibles. I usually found Perry a POS on the ice so any misconduct off the ice isn't surprising.
