Karine Hains: In Hainsight: Montembeault Extended and the Wings Are in Town The big news yesterday was Montembeault’s three-year contract extension and tonight, the Canadiens host the Red Wings.

The Habs have quite the conundrum in net.....and any resolution via trade would depend on the return. Clearly any of the three could be had, but does any GM really see any as the solution.....probably not. Can the Habs carry three to the trade deadline....then trade Allen?

I agree the mood of the club can be devastated if the players feel management is wanting to lose, which of course they are not, but that impression could still be there. Trading off Monty, or any of the three actually, will be viewed by the players through the prism of what the return was. If the return is strong, the players won't blink at the trade.

yeah, I don't see them trading Monty. for the same reason the kept Allen, and still play him, they want someone solid in net. they NEED someone solid.

I’m glad they signed him at what I think is a very good deal for both. I was willing to give him 3y at 4mil per year( why I’m not a GM) but the 3 is really good. I hope they don’t trade him, keep Primeau and move Allen. Play the two in rotation and see what we have. I also feel that this will settle down the team, it can’t be easy to have 3 goalies in rotation, especially for the D core.
