Karine Hains: In Hainsight: An Embarassement of Riches – Take Two I wrote at the end of last season that sooner rather than later, the Canadiens would have to move some defensemen to avoid congestion on the left side of the blue line and now more than ever, that article rings true.

let them graduate to the pro, let them mature in the AHL for a year or two, nothing wrong with letting young D develop in the AHL and be ready to make the jump.

Hutson could use a year in the AHL to get stronger and adapt to the pro level, Engstrom could use a year or two to adjust to the north American ice and style of play.

This reminds me of the King of The Hill episode where Khan and Minh thought they were rich after counting all the quarters their Car Wash made.

Hughes is sleeping on a bed full of quarters.

Now could be a good time for Hughes to give Ken Holland a call…

What would they talk about K?

How one poopty desperate team is unlikely to be able to help a rebuilding team that cannot score.

And vice versa.

It isn't an "embarrassment of riches" until they prove they are Top Four NHL defencemen I-M-O.

Until then I doubt the Habs can convert them to important NHL assets.

yeah I dont think that Allen is the savior for the Oilers either

They could start by playing guys like Ylonen and Emile that they have already and build from there

RHP is coming back next month (in theory) and Newhook god knows when

put Monahan back as a C for the love of God and stick him there. You might actually get something back from him at the deadline but putting him on the wing with Evans and anderson is not helping

Money-Habds flanked by Ylonen and Emile... make it happen.

Can't score less than the current second line.

Wifi may have value already (if you believe Mathias Brunet) but might also be a defenseman that fans want to keep

but yeah if you trade an unproven asset, you will probably get an unpoven asset back

fans will need to be patients but management (and St-Louis) could play their cards better than that as well

Kovy, WiFi, Baron and Harris will likely be gone in the next few years, along with Savard. Mattheson eventually traded, too.
