Ben Shelley: Islanders close out 2023 with 3-1 loss to Penguins

Winter Classic was interesting. I thought the game itself was pretty good. Seattle played a solid game, and their goalie was on point. Kinda like the Pens goalie yesterday.

In re-watching the game, the defensive zone has become a problem because the team is not stay inside the dots and running around too much. Robert Bortuzzo being scratched for Mayfield too me was not necessary, but I guess Lane looks are the -2 from the other night. That gives him an excuse.

Tough set of games coming up.

Outdoor ice is always slower than indoor ice because it is softer. More snow on softer ice. need a 3/4 or 1 radius on blades so that they slide rather than dig in.
