Wildly impressive. Flyers shouldn’t be sneaking up on anyone anymore. Yet they continue to deliver these types of performances against the best teams |

Thanks Bill, for the quick recap. I admit I figured we'd lose with no Coots and Drysie. What a great overall effort by the team and Sam! I really enjoyed the game tonight. |

Is Ersson as good or better than Hart? - kennygarcon
I wouldn't think there's a big enough sample size to make that statement, but he's certainly outplaying him this season imo. Other than those first 1-2 games where he let in soft goals, he's been an absolute wall. Super locked in during shootouts as well. Carter's great, but he does let in a fair amount of softies.
Not sure of the contract situations, but I definitely see the platoon approach as the right way to go and if he's still performing at this level next year, it'll be time to cash in Hart for what value a 1B'ish goalie gets.

I agree on Ersson, small sample size. In hindsight, the contract that raised some eyebrows he received this summer was excellent. Things turning up Danny B. It will be interesting to see what direction they want to go. I’ve seen a bunch of talk that Carter has lower or no value currently with the hockey Canada situation hanging over him (obviously I’m not insinuating he is guilty nor innocent- just unresolved). If a deal including (aka with significant additional pieces from the Flyers) a young and promising C is there, you have to think it give the Flyers pause. |

Flyers owned us for wins 2-0 & 4-1.
Pretty heady stuff given our season as #1 when no other team has come close to owning us. Beat on the Rags for me lol |

Fun game ! Nail biter at the end with the Peg getting that PP. Third shutout this season for this kid. Equally impressed with his shootout tending . |

That was a blue-collar win. Hard work. Somewhere these guys found the energy. Goal tending was outstanding. This is a good team. Maybe no superstars at the moment but a good TEAM. 4 points on this road trip already is a really really good thing. |

Solid road game all around. Still shocked they got points let alone a shutout win. Like I said yesterday, if the team keeps up this play all year theres a good chance they make the playoffs even in the tight. east. They’ve fared well on these long road trips, but obviously the next test is all the in conference/ divisional games to come. Fare well there and you’re cooking with gas. |

"Is Ersson as good or better than Hart?" The question I'm asking myself is if Ersson could be the next Henrik Lundquist.

The rest of the year should be a goalie platoon, pretty each guy given the same amount of games. Hart has played in 5 more games then Ersson. Barring any injury, that game gap should not widen. I believe Ersson will be as good or better then Hart. So does a platoon sound good next seaaon, when one of the goalies is being paid 6 million? Both guys have a lot to to play for, and I look forward to see how it unfolds. |

After this season, ersson will have about 50 games played in the nhl. While he’s been outstanding, I wouldn’t be so quick to move on from hart. If the flyers can bring hart back on a shorter term deal, 3 or 4 years, I think they should explore that. Term is much more important than the $$ here.

Real solid win on the road against a very hot team. Plus down two starters out of the lineup. Sooner or later, all the Torts hate on here has got to change. We can all agree that he does some head scratching stuff at times, like his benchings and lineup calls, but he has to be given credit too for this success. Let’s face it, not much elite talent on this club, but the simple fact is, if a better team takes us lightly going into a game, they’re gonna get beat. They better be willing to grind out a victory, because we sure will. |

I wonder what some recent comparable deals would be. Would he take another 3 year contract? Maybe |

They won last night because Ersson is playing at an elite level. Last night in the 3rd period, shot attempts were 31-13 Winnipeg. Scoring chances 16-4 Winnipeg.
Can this team continue to grind like this for a full season? They're struggling to score. Will the PP keep producing? Tortorella and Shaw deserve credit for getting this team playing defensively as a team and for what really is the league's best PK. The question is as always. Is this the path to building towards becoming a top cup contender?

Like that answer. It is odd that Hart's contract has not been extended yet. The longer it takes the more expensive it will be. |

I wouldn’t even do five at this time unless he is signed for a few years after UFA status. What Carter might be looking for will probably be the deciding factor on whether he is signed or not. |
