I think to this point sufficient evidence exists whereby a Tortorella Adjusted Average can be applied to goaltenders and defenses within his system.
Merzlikins sv% averaged under Torts was .9195 with a GAA adjusted of 2.56.
Post Tortorella those averages have plummeted to .896sv% and a GAA adj. of 3.56.
Our metric is roughly a Tortorella Adjusted Average Improvement of +2.35% In Saves on Average and he is good for roughly -1.0 Goal Against Per Game.
These numbers at a glance and not as thorough deduction appear even greater during his NY Stint, though superior personnel play a role to be certain.
