For this season…The Sabres need to get into a playoff fight
For Buffalo to outcompete the five teams ahead of them for the final EC playoff spot, they need to be on at least a 113 pt. pace for the rest of the season. |

Those teams are looking to improve their goaltending, so they're looking at a $5M (for the next three years) AHL backup goalie that will massively help out another team to offload.
Bold strategy Cotton. |

"fourteen strike"
Because this exact thing has happened to me when using voice-to-text I suspect he was driving somewhere when he did this quick hit.
I wonder if anyone would want Korpisalo from Ottawa. |

If I'm Kenny, I'm not retaining on Campbell. IF teams are desperate enough to talk themselves into even considering this tire fire, they're already half way to talking themselves into the idea that Campbell is a deal at 5 million. |

Campbell might have the worst contract in the league. The only way a team is taking him on for $5m straight up, is with some good futures attached.

The leafs need a Zub. Or a Pellech or Pullock from Long Island.
Shut down D men who are not a hundred years old like Giordano. You have plenty of offense and I like Reilley but he's more of a Chabbot.....if Chabbot got points. I like Chychrun, the guy is a gym rat with an amazing shot. But he doesn't play big. He plays like he's worried to get hurt.
Leafs need big bruising responsible d men. Not flashy. Not expected to produce points just keep the other team from producing. |

As in the Jake Muzzin mould. Wish we had him when he was 25. |

Let’s be honest here, Campbell is a good guy, but he can’t stop a beach ball and that’s not going to change. Sure he will have his moments where he gets hit by a beach ball and they call it a good save, but any team investing their future or current success on him would be completely incompetent.
Sammy is a little different. Love the guy, and he is a much better goalie than Campbell, and could actually go on a run here and there. But taking a team to a cup final is never going to happen. Sammy is young enough that consistency has a slim shot with him, but not so with Campbell. A contending team can’t have either one as their go to guy. Leafs will move on from Sammy this summer.

Nobody is going to take Campbell unless the Oilers completely pay out of their bum with prospects and picks.. |

If Holland can pull this off, he's gm of the year. |

I suspect these guys loyalties to keeping their jobs is stronger than their loyalties to USA Hockey. I don't see anyone trading for Campbell in-season. It's the sort of deal that has to be worked out in the summer. Friedman has said multiple times on his podcast that the Oilers' hope is that he works out his problems in the minors. I would guess that unless Campbell gets his game back the Oilers would have to give up something like LA did when they traded his old stablemate Cal Petersen (Sean Walker and a 2nd). |

There are some desperate teams out there right now with serious goaltending issues. When the music stops and the chairs start to disappear, who know what GMs that miss out on their plan a and plan b targets are going to do? If we've learned anything about Holland, if he moves at all, Campbell will be the last goalie to move at the deadline. |

There are so many other goalies to choose from. If a team like Buffalo or NJ wants a cheaper guy who not only stabilizes the situation now, but might trend to a true number 1...I would be looking at Dan Vladar, maybe Cayden Primeau, Vejmelka, Blackwood? All of them have upside, as opposed to Campbell.
If you wanted to swing big then you have options like Gibson or Merzlikins - again, both come with risk, but far less risk than Campbell.
If a contender just wants some depth or an upgraded back-up...you might look at MAF, or a cheaper version like James Reimer. For example, if Skinner goes down in a playoff series, the Oilers might prefer a guy like Reimer to win a couple of games instead of Calvin Pickard.
The basic point - nobody wants Campbell, zero.

keep in mind the Oilers SUCKED!! at that time and they were also looking at replacing Skinner.
They replaced their coach and changed their game approach. He played well for the Leaf's before leaving with a strong D in front of him much like Elvis is facing |

The guy is a head case full stop.
If they want to lose the contract then they will need to add a valuable asset like a first rounder.
Campbell is 32 years old and has never been able to establish himself as a number 1 goalie.
Why would anyone think he will now
