Karine Hains: In Hainsight: Gallagher Loses it, Montembeault and Monahan Win it After losing their last three games, the Canadiens had a lot to make up for in what promised to be an emotional night in Montreal as Saint-Patrick was coming home to coach the visitors.

Good for Monahan...playing well and producing....AND staying healthy (so far)

time to move him while his value is great

Give Gallagher 5 games (max for a phone hearing), I would give him at least 7 games...it was really bad hit.

agree

do you think a contender would move a first round pick for him or a good prospect?

I dont think they can or should wait either, unless the offers they get right now are garbage ones

If Ben (frank)ing Chiarot gave us a first and a prospect, there's no reason we can't believe a first or a good prospect comes our way dealing Monahan.

Nice win.

Cool to see Roy back.

But the Gallagher hit over shadows everything. I just do not get that hit to the head, from a guy who plays on the edge but is never hit dirty. Just seems out of character...

Totally agree with the latter sentiment on Gally. I'd like to see him make a public apology, too. As much as we know it's not part of his game, players need to be responsible for their bodies. With the speed and strength that today's game is played at, to not be cognizant of one's body is just careless and dangerous.

Karine, I know you mentioned trading Money, but if the offers for him are sub-par, would you consider holding on to him, maybe even re-signing him? (Short term, reasonable cap hit) Or do you move him for the best best offer available?

I suspect he will say something after the hearing.

He is not the kind of guy who hides behind stuff, he is usually pretty honest and forthcoming.

ROR was also older and had a 7.5M contract.

so yeah, easily a first ++

Good for Monahan...playing well and producing....about to get hurt right before the deadline

time to move him before he blows a tire

I think they get a 1st or a Grade A prospect and a lesser pick.

The question is do they get more than that?

Will be interesting to see who bites.

the market can change from year to year. Teams value vet defensemen at this time of the year. Teams will be calling for Savard next season unless he cant stay healthy or slows down a lot

I think that might be the thing with Monahan : will a team be ready to give a first for him and then maybe lose him for the playoffs when they need him the most? Maybe yes or maybe not, if they have other options.

I think it will have some conditions (team that get him needs to reach the 2nd round or whatever, or Monahan needs to play certain number of games or whatever.)

EXACTLY

Oreilly fetched a 1, 2nd and 3rd, ok maybe the Conn Snythe thing added value but to me the very low salary of Money as great value too !

I just want a trade to happen, in case he gets injured.

Habs got screwed over by injuries last year, for players they likely wanted to trade.

They are not likely to get a top 6 for Monahan, so perhaps the late 1st is good as part of a package they can put together and flip elsewhere over the summer / draft.
