Karine Hains: In Hainsight: Top Assets for the Trade Deadline The Canadiens have a few days off before getting back on the ice against the Caps on February 6th, but Kent Hughes must be burning the midnight oil.

They way to landing Sean Monahan starts with a first round pick and the Rangers still have their 1st round picks for the next three drafts.

Option A: Money and a pick or prospect for a great prospect
Option B: Money for a 2nd and a decent prospect
Option C: Money for a late 1st and a poopty prospect
Option D: Money and another player for an expiring contract, a 1st and a prospect
Option E: None of the above

depends what's on the table.

l'offre et la demande

at the moment, not many centers on the market, his value is good. If a few teams decide to become sellers, more offers will make the buying price go down.

la demande va être tres grande car à 2M plusieurs équipes peuvent se le permettre

oui, son salaire aide beaucoup MTL. If MTL is too greedy in terms of return, teams will go elsewhere

Now can he stay healthy until March 8?

Let's not pretend like this thread isn't a huge inspiration to Eklund and Karine.

Kakko would be an interesting add but I feel like the odds of him every becoming a legitimate top 6 players are fading quickly. He's close to a reclamation project at this point.

Meanwhile, I've always loved Perreault, probably more than most at the last draft. He's a very smart player that makes people around him better. He's a guy that's going to produce good numbers in the NHL imho.

Feels like Kakko will turn into a bottom six player in the end, wouldn’t trade Monahan for him…Habs already have plenty of bottom 6 players

I think Monahan is the only major deal at the TDL, there may be some minor things, like taking on an expiring contract to give another team cap space to make a deal or to eat some cap space in a multi-team deal.

I am not expecting much else until the summer.

But who knows? HuGo have shocked us with the unexpected before... but historically, that happens around the draft.

I don't know if the fact every language is actually made up was part of your joke but if so, that's pretty funny.

Hughes will wait until he gets a deal he likes. That's how he's handled every case so far.

And I know these things never happen, but Friedman mentionned it was possible the Habs could trade Monahan and still sign him in the summer. I wouldn't be against that at all.

like you said, that almost never happen

my point is, if he has a good offer already, no point being greedy and wait untill march 8 to pull the trigger. Hughes should forget about the top prospect thing and focus on getting a late first round pick. Hughes can trade it after if he wants to.
