Gibson is a liability on that contract- not an asset. Average at best goalie for six straight years now. Not outperforming his backups collectively in that time so I don't want to hear the lies about it being the team. No GM is giving up much more than offsetting bad cap hit and a pittance of futures to acquire him.

It would take 'belief' that Gibson solves the Kings problems....he doesn't.

Hasn't it been reported too that Gibson has no interest in moving? Happy in sunny California.

I thought it was rumored that he wanted to be traded but had all Canadian teams on his NTC list and wouldn't waive for them. Fact of the matter remains, Gibson has done nothing in over half a decade to demonstrate he is worth his cap hit.

Not that it changes the overall odds of this trade happening, but Orange county to LA is about 30 miles.

Now, I would certainly say that Orange County is leaps and bounds better than LA.

Kings should be playoff bound. How and why would a team that is looking to improve themselves for the playoffs trade away a top 6 nhl forward. Not like they have an excess in that regard. They may have had that when they made the PLD trade but not anymore. They would have to move Denault or Arvidsson. Feels like that will weaken them ahead of likely first round matchup against Edm or Vgs

Well the kings have less than one million in cap space. So Victor Arvidson or Gavirikov if you can get him to wave no trade clause. The Ducks can take cap. But really I can't think of anything the kings have that they would let go that the Ducks would want. Turcotte would just be another depth foward. Kaliyav wouldn't make the Ducks better. He be just another flawed foward. Ducks don't need Defenseman.
So considering that the Ducks have better prospects and the Kings lack of Cap space. I'd say this trade won't happen.

Kings are thin on the left. No way they trade Vlad. Roy would be the logical candidate considering the depth at RHD and he's UFA. All of it is irrelevant, however, since Gibson isn't moving north.

Danault does so much. He won't get moved. It would create a major hole if he was moved. This deal isn't happening. I suspect they ride Talbot and Dave into the playoffs.

Makes no sense that Kings would trade for a subpar goalie on a horrific contract. I don't think he's an upgrade over Talbot. He's certainly not better enough to justify a big trade package or the cap hit.

They should go after Jarry if he's available or Mrazek at the least.

Yesterday it was Saros to LA, because LA was so desperate that they would meet Nashville's asking price.

Now it's Gibson. Tomorrow will be Markstrom.

Wow, overpayment by the Ducks. PLD isn't worth Zegras 1 for 1. He sucks, he's lazy and is way overpaid

Just left after a little over 10 years (for reference, I grew up close to Chicago). Lived in the city of Orange. Went to LA for work and friends several times per year, and couldn't stand the place.

Edit: To be specific (IMO), LA is dirty as hell, engineered/designed poorly, has a brutal homeless problem and is horribly run. Been mugged there twice in the middle of the day.

I will fully admit, you will not find better weather almost anywhere else in the US, but that's not enough to make up for the rest of that nonsense.

If the Kings had some cap space, MAYBE this might happen, but because they don't, the Kings would be idiotic to trade for Gibson. They already gutted their depth for PLD and they'd have to do it again for Gibson. Besides, almost $6 million in salary would have to come back to Anaheim just to make the numbers work. The main question though is would the addition of Gibson give the Kings a better chance of beating Edmonton/Colorado/Dallas? I wonder what Kings67 and Only_A_Ladd think about this but I don't think Gibson would tilt the scales in the Kings' favor.

Like you, I don't think Gibson makes a material difference to the Kings. Is he better at his best than Talbot and Rittich? Yeah. But, IMO, the Kings need help at 3rd pairing LHD (Englund is not going to cut it in the playoffs) and a 4C (love Lizotte but he got manhandled last year against the Oilers and is coming off an injury) more than a bump at goalie. Ducks are better off finding a buyer for Gibson in the offseason, and the Kings are better off waiting to the offseason, too.

Canucks just gave up 10 goals to Minnesota. Are they in on Gibson too? It's the same ocean.

Markstrom just got lit up for 3 goals in 5 minutes to the Jets. Wondering if NJ is looking elsewhere now. Maybe Jack Campbell?
