Konecny missing a third straight crucial game getting injured in practice.

Couturier on the 4th line? Atkinson back in the doghouse.

This Gauthier/Drysdale trade is going to be looked back on as a complete and utter disaster for years to come.

Brink’s back in? Gotta admit I’m pretty amused by this lineup. Torts is freaking wack job. Gives you a pretty good idea of who the coach thought showed up Sunday. Can’t really say I disagree with him there.

Coots getting the demotion apparently. Torts is trying to press some buttons. Unfortunately I think he is running out of buttons. A point tonight seems like a small miracle.

Not feeling to good about this game. They're seriously in trouble the more TK is out and Peterson is the backup. And Coots getting his minutes slashed. I hope they win, but I get the feeling this is the beginning of a longer than expected slide.

I don't believe we could honestly think we would "win" the Cutter/Drysdale trade. Just two different plays/projections. Cutter may end up being a high-end sniper and Drysdale will be a solid 2nd pair D (maybe 1st pair). Either way you slice it, we were going to "lose" the trade. Our biggest hole right now is a guy that can put the puck in the net consistently. Cutter may end up as a 25-30 goal scorer. Even if Drysdale gets 1st pair minutes, it's not an even comparison. IMO. Cutter put us in a bad situation. DB made the best out of it. Strong return, just slim chance we end up "winning" the trade.

Okay, Bill... as to the elephant in the room; I assume Coots is not really going to be THE 4th line center... and I imagine that we are all agreeing that he is banged up, and has had/will have his TOI reduced to get him to the stretch in better shape... but please tell me in the simplest terms why Torts is slotting his new captain there for practice... and why you feel apparently confident enough to slot him there for the game? Please understand that this is by no means a criticism of you in any way shape, nor form; I'm merely confused by this... I've followed the NHL and Flyers since their inception, and cannot recall such a move with these facts leading it.

On a side note; I was thinking this weekend that Cam Atkinson probably could use another wakeup call banching like last time... He obviously still has some of his skill, but some of his drive is missing.

In any case... tonight is geared up to be quite interesting, as I see it.

Couturier made captain, and demoted to the 4th line. Would that happen anywhere else?

Agree the Gauthier/ Drysdale trade will haunt them for a decade. DB was at least wise enough to trade him out West

Because Drysdale was injured?

1.because he is injury prone with a chronic shoulder issue
2. If and it's an IF Gauthier reaches the potential many believe he will they lost a 30+ goal scoring power forward

Cutter could turn into something great. Or he could go the way of Nolan Patrick. It's far too early to be declaring any wins in the trade from that side.

As of right now the Flyers are winning b/c Drysdale is at least in the NHL playing games (well not now haha).

The question is did Cutter put the Flyers in a bad position or did the ineptitude of the front office do it. I still cant get over the fact the kid said when he was drafted he was born to be a Flyer. I dont think he changed his mind on a whim they screwed something up.

York and Drysdale both need to take spatial awareness classes.

Any prospect could go that way if they have enough head injuries/brain diseases.

Wasn't just that, even when NP was in the lineup he wasn't very good outside of a few brief stretches. Just a ton of pre-draft hype and almost none of it materialized into NHL production.

TK and Drysdale are out and Couts is banged up. The Flyers will have to some how create some offense. The Flyers better stay out of the box or it's gonna get ugly early. Hopefully Ersson stands on his head and keeps us in the game?
