St. Louis was nowhere near the organization when they won cups.. so Stamkos did not win cups with him.

Stamkos wants to win and will play where he can have the best chance. That is Tampa.

While Toronto's blue line played well versus boston, who is not an offensive juggernaut. They do NOT have a top 10 blue line.

Anyways....

Stamkos won it with Tampa Bay/MSL when he was playing NHL 05 a few years prior to being drafted

I was always pissed in NHL08 when Hedman only would get to a 77 overall and Marian Gaborik and Michael Grabner would score 60 goals each season.

I haven't played an NHL game in probably well over 10 years but all I remember is that speed was king. Steve Sullivan used to be my boy.

By year 2011 OV and Crosby were hasbeens. The kings of the NHL were Rick Nash, Gaborik, Grabner and Mason Raymond.

When Stamkos won his first Cup, Marty St.Louis was 45 years old and had been retired for many seasons. But I'm sure they are kindred spirits. Also, it's Steven Stamkos, not Stephen.

But these are minor details. The point is, Stamkos isn't going to Montreal.

I often call the Lightning the Maple Leafs of the south. Those fans bleed as much blue and white as the fans in Toronto. I really am of the mindset that Stamkos will stay put. Montreal and Stamkos is plausible but not probable.

Further, I cannot count out the Lightning any year with their core group (they can be a juggernaut when healthy). With that said I would believe the only thing Stamkos would be looking for outside of Tampa would be a sure thing, a Stanley Cup contender. Which Montreal OR Toronto are not close to being that.

Getting the high click count fan bases of both Toronto and Montreal into the same post is some really good work.

Toronto should sign Stamkos and send Marner packing for a low return.

Giving a guy 11M AND a NMC without proving poop in the playoffs is wild

Stamkos changed his first name to appeal to the Quebecois.
