First yielded to Whorey Fairy who will score the double-OT game winner.

Frozen patties!? Sorry man, I can't sit here and watch you suffer. I gotta go full food snob here.

Buy lean ground beef ...add salt n pepper (they're in effect) or maybe some Montreal steak spice ....squeeze those (frank)ers into thin-smashed form. 3-4 mins per side and you'll never go frozen burger again.

It adds like 5 mins to your cook time. You got this Dmntsie

I know, just lazy to make the patties up. I'll see if they have any ground chuck on sale.

I like the potential for it to be a bargain but don't love the investment in a guy who's been unable to prove he can stay healthy and handle anything that resembles a starters workload.

Fair. I generally eat coffee for lunch so I can be ok with this.

Risk/reward gamble for sure.

Under Dubas the Leafs generally took their time with extensions and it seemed to always burn them on the Cap.

Maybe Tree is more of a gamble on the upside type.

Saw on Twitter right now 4M is the 26th highest and 3.5 is the 27th highest paid goalie in the league. That number will only go up with the cap going up.

This deal has potential to be incredible for the leafs.

Makes sense for Woll to cash in as well, play for that big contract at 30 but gaurentee some money after some injury history.

From last blog:

And Minten.

There's only so many of these young, inexperienced guys on the lineup.

Let's continue to sign vets looking to rehabilitate their NHL value, and get a defenceman (if you do decide to trade the pick, which I absolutely would not do).

- Atomic Wedgie

I will say that I am nowhere near as high on Minten as some fans here are. I find him very whelming. Just sort of right in the middle of meh.

A guy like McGroarty would improve your depth pool, there's no doubt. But I wouldn't blow the farm on the guy nor would I sacrifice the 24OA + for him if I could use that pick to improve in more immediate areas (like Defense). Again my take on the 24OA is based on what the scouting staff values it to be - if they think there are guys who can make a difference soon enough that they can pick there, then keep it. If they think everything is a long-term project or there's no one who is seemingly on the fast track to breakout - then deal it for someone who can help in the near term.

The thing is that the Leafs have one year left until Knies and Holmberg bridge.

While there can be only so many young inexperienced guys on the Leafs, our bottom-6 hasn't been a real positive for us.

This year Robertson-Domi-Jarnkrok was +3, McMann-Kampf-Gregor was +1.

The year prior Engvall-Kampf-Kefoot was +1; ZAR-Kampf-Malgin was -1.

In 21-22, Engvall-Kampf-Mikheyev was even; Engvall-Spezza-Simmonds were +1.

In 20-21, Hyman-Engvall-Mikheyev were +3; Kerfoot-Thornton-Spezza were -2.

And while I know the bottom-6 on many teams is a bit of a wasteland - in Florida you had Luostarinen-Lundell-Rodrigues who were +8. They're 4th line of Gadjovich-Stenlund-Lomberg were even. If you combined all 4 years of the Leafs' bottom 6 - which was never negative - it's still not as good as Florida's +8.

It may be a paltry stat, but looking at GWG from the bottom-6 you probably end up with about 5 more wins being generated for Florida out of their bottom-6 than we had out of ours. There's no doubt that depth in that area has also been costing us.

So we have holes on the blueline in our bottom 6 and in top-6 LW position as well as stability in net. That's a lot to fix and the 24OA might be able to help with one of those areas.

I'm still a bit conflicted on my rooting interest tonight but I think I've done a 180.

I was all about FLA winning quick and keeping the Coiler fans quiet but now, the idea of Tkachuk and Bennett suffering such a iconic failure, has me cheering Oilers tonight.

The Cup ..inches from their fingertips ...slips away ..a complete and historical failure that will go down in Universal-Sports history.

Yes Fakesy, I know the Leafs suck, but tonight we can bathe in the failure of someone else.

Florida would be a more miserable loss, but I think I'm still cheering for them.

Montembault, Gustavsson, Vanecek and a few others all signed for 3.5-4M on 3 yr deals when they were in the same position.

For Tree he either waits the year ..and that's a gamble. Or he locks up a couple of UFA years at what could be exceptional value ...and that's a gamble.

I like the change up in strategy. Curious to see if McCabe is someone he tries to lock up too. You could convince me to take a pass b/c if he adds a couple of good pieces July 1 then McCabe is a candidate to slide back in the order and settle in as more of a 4-5 type. I like him though so I could be convinced either way.
