I love that Trouba forced his way to NYR particularly so his wife could finish her med school opportunities there and now he's probably being shipped off lol. I think he's a liability at $8m/yr. so hopefully a team would punishes NYR for trading him. They already got lucky with Goodrow getting claimed.

Just keeping last thread going since Kev R took the time to comment.

Man I like what San Jose are doing, now they have the #11 from Buffalo. Are they ever building a nice looking young core for the future. Gotta wonder what it will realistically take for Conroy to score another top 15. I think Andersen will do it but I dont see Conroy parting with him this year or the retool will look way too much like a rebuild to Edwards.

You have to wonder what it takes. Heard rumours that Conroy wanted to get a a pick in the 11-15 range in order to pick Yakemchuk. That would be a home run.

Utah is aggressively going after a top four defenceman. They currently have zero NHL defencemen on contract. Shea Weber doesn’t count. lol

Nice write up Trevor. Good to see you're giving Edmonton it's due, even in a roundabout way.

Feels like a fresh start for the Flames next season. Here's hoping to you guys making the playoffs soon, Would love to whoop your asses.

Thanks! Had to add the sauce or it wouldn’t get the signature.

Next year is going to be wild. Bold prediction is that Kuzmenko carries the powerplay to well beyond expectations. The fans turn on him and demand he be traded before they lose out on a top five pick. He doesn’t get traded.

Did you watch the Rangers in the playoffs? There's a reason they want to buyout/trade Trouba. His game has fallen off a cliff and he was a major liability when he was on the ice. Every time he touched the puck in the Florida series it was a disaster and he wasn't any better before that. He can block shots and hit and is awful at everything else. I wouldn't even want him as a bottom pair defenceman for half of what he's making. The Athletic put his market value at 2 million, and that was before his horrendous playoffs. Bringing back Zadorov for 8 million would be a better option.

The only way the Flames should consider bringing him in is if the Rangers are heavily compensating them. The only thing he has going for him is he's owed less real money than his cap hit.

If the Flames keep the roster they have now and add some competent defensemen, I fully expect them to be a bubble team again next year. The Pacific is the league's weakest division, and every team is nothing but question marks.

Never underestimate the contract year. Both Kuzmenko and Sharangovich can be looking for 60-million-dollar deals if they have career years.

Wow Mangi to Wash for 2025 2nd, cant tell if there is any retention nothing in report. If not have we ever got a lot of cap space, something's up.

Love this trade and that is no slight on Mange.
Pelts needs waivers this year and needed a spot.
On CAP Friendly Mange shows 5.8 on Washington's CAP and the Flames have a whopping $28,999,0167 in available CAP space

Looking at Caps cap space & they are 2.0 mill in the ditch. Yes they have Backstroms coming off at start of the year but Oshie is not sure if he can play but maybe can. I cant imagine Caps are done. Would Oshie & their 1st (#17 i believe) for something be in play at draft? Caps have to be careful 7 have lots to do yet.

Agree, great trade. Conny’s up to something. Also agree Kevin, looking for cap dumps such as your suggestion with Washington, I’m sure there’s others out there. Most exciting time to be a Flames fan right now. Must be how Oiler fans felt for a dozen years.

Can someone please explain what's happening with our pick next year- what if we finish dead last and got McKenna or a top 5 pick? Which pick does Montreal get

Oversimplification, but just need Calgary to suck and Florida to not suck next season.

Thanks Trevor!

I can’t believe the return for Mange without retention. Washington must be banking on Contract-Year-Mange!

In other news, I bought a Tkachuk Blasty Jersey for super cheap last summer. I was a bit torn wearing it, as said player asked to be traded. But that jersey belongs up in the Rafters!

Who do Flames draft if Tij is gone?

Philly needs a CAP dump.... Ryan Johansen 4 mil + Cal Petersen 3.85 = 7.85
We take those two and pick 12 for the 2nd we got tonight for Mange.

Basically if our 2025 pick is a top 10 then we keep our pick & Montreal will get the Florida pick. I believe if by some weird happening Florida pick gets pushed to 2026, then the onlty way we keep our 2025 pick is if we win the draft lotto hahaha noooottttt happening.....ever. Im not exactly sure under what circumstance the Florida pick wouldnt come to us, I think if they were a top 5 pick or something like that. So odds are Montreal will get the Florida pick in 2025. Who knows.

Honestly, have the Flames ever been below the Cap floor ever since the salary cap started? Im just really shocked to see Conroy go down this path. I've got my fingers crossed Edwards has given Connie the green light to do whatever you have to to return to being a consistent playoff contender for the new barn. We need another top 10 pick here just dont know how Conroy is prepared to go about doing that.

Not that I can recall. Anyone?

Was thinking the same. Say Yakemchuk (or whichever prospect you’re hoping drops) is still on the board at #12. Would you trade #28, #41, and #62 for that? Would you take that deal if you’re Philly?

I dont think so because they were trying to move up to the Columbus pick to get Demidov to play with Michov. They are also buying out Atkinson to make room to spend.
So here is a real bold bold move Conroy could maybe do. What about Kuzmenko? How much of a fit could he be with Michov? What if we took Johansen & the #12 for Kuzmenko? Then we have 9,12 & 28. Then maybe we move 28 & something else to try & get that Washington #17. That could maybe get us Hague with 17. Possibilities are endless with the cap space we have & the trade assets.

Although I would prefer to see how Kuzmenko does here but man, opportunity seems to be showing us a few doors.
