Not that I've ever encouraged buyouts but I guess the uncertainty of Kolosov is why Petersen will rot out this final year in Lehigh?

The last time the Flyers were doing this much damage control with a prospect was with Cutter and the team pretty much lied the entire time. Hopefully the team is telling the truth this time and this ends differently.

from Chicago blog, not to bad for as rebuild

The 2024/2025 Rockford Ice Hogs could consist of the following:
Four first-round picks (Levshunov 2024, Korchinski 2022, Nazar 2022, and Allan 2021)
Three second-round picks (Ludwinski 2022, Dach 2021, and Commesso 2020)
Four third-round picks (Hayes 2022, Savoie 2022, Slaggert 2020, and Kaiser 2020)

from team owned media

"He plays a premium position, he has a 6-foot-4, 210-pound makeup, he takes pride in playing the full length of the rink and there's offensive upside"

You would think they are talking about a third or fourth-round pick

Regrettably, they just may be.

Bill, with the KHL system, can the loaning team take back the player mid season? How about for the playoffs if the other team is out of it? Seems like you lose some opportunity if it is for the whole season. It would be wild to see the NHL take on a similar system.

I’m having trouble not being a little excited for Oliver Bonk, Denver Barkey, Jett Luchanko and Noah Powell beyond Matvei Michkov.

Just listened to the last two episodes of Jason M. The only way that podcast is digestible is with you on it, Bill. He goes off the rails when you’re not there. Calling for resigning TK and calling folks idiots that question if this rebuild is a retool. When you’re on you help guide the discussion to what else could still happen and what hasn’t happened with other teams (e.g. Necas and McGrowsomeballs not traded yet). Appreciate you Bill!

Myrtetus does agree with what I think the Flyers will do, and that is try to buy their way to contention through free agency.

I think that plan is a mistake and always has been. Its disingenuous to mention the Golden Knights as the model.

He is in lockstep with the Flyers and in some ways might represent what the Flyers think of their fans. "Laughing at us" and thinking we are idiots. Just give us your money and shut up.

They aren't smart enough to think anyone else is an idiot. Buying their way to contention is what they always have done. The Flyers are very lucky they have a 40 year history of loyal fans to fall back on. Without that they are the Columbus Blue Jackets.

maybe one day attendance will just crater along with merchandise sales and everything else. as long as making money no change in philosophy is coming.

That day is coming. The “Bullies” generation won’t be the ones buying season tix much longer. It might take a few more seasons, but when this retool fails and it’s 2030 and the team has gone a decade mostly missing the playoffs along with a couple of first round exits, attendance will finally crater.

Sadly, until that day comes, it will just be business as usual.

I would love to be on a podcast with him and relay why some of us and I actually think most smart fans, see how the Flyers are failing. How moving Konecny and Laughton and positioning the team for top picks in 2025 and 2026 are actually the best ways to try and rebuild this team.

How the resigning of Hathaway was short sighted instead of using him as a trade piece at the deadline.

The moment they re-sign Konecny will be the final indication that there is no rebuild.

No, the loan (if to another KHL team) is for the full season.

Last season would have been my dad's 50th season owning tickets but he finally dropped them. The final decision had less to do with on ice performance and much more to do with how badly the organization has treated it's STHs for years. Running promotions every year starting in the fall for fans to buy single game tickets at lower prices than it cost us on our plan, making it impossible to break even on games we sold. Said the "perks" we got as STHs made up for it. I'll tell ya right now, they don't.

I hear ya. My family first purchased season tix for the 1970-71 season and by 82-83, we had 6 seats in section K and 4 in section D. When they moved into the new building we cut down to 6 total as the prices had gotten pretty high. A few seasons later, mainly due to cost, we dropped down to 4. Finally, after the 10-11 season, we dropped them altogether as the prices had just gotten way too high. For a couple of seasons I bought 10 game plans, but the seats sucked and the prices were just too high so I threw in the towel in 2014.

I can’t imagine why anyone is buying tix at this point. The prices are obscene as are the prices for concessions and parking. Add to that a mediocre on ice product and little to no hope of seeing a Cup contending team any time soon, really makes me wonder why attendance hasn’t already dropped.

if TK is dead set on the flyers paying 10 million and doesn't budge, what do the flyers do? pay him or move him?
