Obviously we don't know all the facts but seriously wild that 31 other teams didn't make the deal and it also took like 20+ days of free agency for him to get a deal? Is there like baggage out there that we don't know of? |

The things I laid out in the blog. Issues defensively. Needs PP TOI. Tends to tail off production wise as season wears on. I really thought he found a home in Seattle, but they didn’t re-sign him |

People starting to notice that GMCD is bad at his job eh? Especially from the comments of last thread. Love that. All are welcome in the house where we recognize GMCD is bad as his job.

Nothing, not the topic at hand. Topic is hand that Chris Drury is in over his head. (Some of the contracts on this team are not his fault. I'm nothing but fair.) |

Takes two sides to make a deal. There has NEVER been an indication that Sprong wanted to become a Ranger.
DANIEL SPRONG
This is the missed signing that we're going to get upset over? Come on guys! |

I said it was a missed opportunity. Also, noted it takes two to tango. Didn’t get upset, just said it was lost chance at depth |

I am holding judgement of Drury's overall GM performance due to cap issues and the Rangers success. He was hired as GM May of 2021.
Gorton signings:
Panarin - Signed in 2019
Trouba - Signed in 2019
Strome - Signed 2020
Krieder - Signed 2020
Drury signings:
Trochek - Signed in 2022
Zib - Signed in 2021
Chytil - Signed 2023
Fox- Signed 2021
Miller - Signed 2023
Goodrow - Signed 2021- now off the books
Vesey - Signed 2022 and then 2023
Shesty - Signed 2021
Regarding Trades, Drury has made good ones and bad ones, just like any GM ever to act as a GM.
Copp, Vatrano, Kane, Motte, Buchnevich , Reaves, Tarasenko, Quick.
I would be hard pressed to be convinced that Fox and Zib's contracts are bad contracts. Price for production. This knowing the arguments and hurt feelings of this past playoffs. Open market, they both would get above 10million annual.
The above does not denote a poor GM showing, as the majority of what he has done has been more successful than not. Since 2021, the Rangers have been in cap hell. I am willing to bet that has affected how he proceeded with player signings and trades. Referring to my previous posts, Drury has to decide to go all in or clear house. What other choice does he have. If goes all in, trading the random 2nd rounder and signing cheap contracts to fill out the roster is what he has to do.
I cannot judge him negatively when, by all accounts, there have been a decent amount of positives.
This is a high level account. Not delving into details of what ifs and should haves. |

what would people want from a new GM anyway
to come in and clean house, re-acquire draft picks and punt on 2025? |

Lavi coached Sprong in WSH. Could be another piece of the puzzle as to why we did not sign him. This is pure speculation. |

Drury can't clear house. He can't trade Zib, Kreider, Panarin, Fox, Trocheck, etc even if he wanted to because of clauses in their contracts. Dolan would also never allow him to blow it up at this point.
That means he needs to go all in. All in means that their 1st round pick should be in play at this deadline as should any prospect not named Perrault that is not a regular on the roster by the trade deadline |

things just aren't as miserable as people are making it out to be
yeah they lost in the conference final and its as painful loss as they ever had but that doesn't mean we suck now, the internet just oozes unnecessary negativity and it gets contagious

Agreed. Need the right players to win. And even that is a roll of the die. If you want to win, you win at all costs. Rangers are a winning team by definition and facts. They need those few additional pieces that Drury just hasn't found yet to get them over that hump in the playoffs. |

Or overbearing and unrealistic over confidence. Just depends on your point of view. |

The sky is not falling, nor have they won it all. So it's somewhere in the middle on a spectrum of ones own opinion.
But hey, we are definitely not in the Sharks or Blue Jackets fan base position. |
