Rick, Ive crunched a few numbers here, how close am I.
You said you spend 500 a month in gas. So an average price of a gallon is lets say 3.60, so that means you are buy about 139 gallons of gas a month. I dont know what kind of car you own now, but on the low side, say it gets 21 miles to a gallon. So you are driving over 2900 miles a month? 36 month lease the mileage will be over 100k.
12k total for a year allowed for a lease is 36k so you are over by 64k. Chevy charges .30 cents for overages on a lease so it looks like you will owe about 19k when the lease is over.
Seems like a lot. - Brukie
All that work to be just so incredibly wrong and im not sure where to start lol
Let’s say I conservatively fill up once per week. $60 x4.5 = $270. $270 x 36 months = $10k in gas over 3 years
New car is $40 more per month, $1440 over 36 months
Home charger is $2k.
$1440 + $2,000 = $3440 in extra expenses over 36 months
$10k gas savings less $3440 extra expenses = saving thousands |

Well its wrong because you said you spend 500 a month for gas. Now you are saying you spend 270. Thats conservatively you say.
270 is 75 gallons at 3.60 a gallon. 21 MPG at 75 gallons is almost 1600 miles a month.
You do realize that it costs about 12 bucks a day to fully charge the cars battery from 15 percent to 100 percent. That must be taken into consideration too.
There is a slight savings but not as much as people think. It is cool though, Im thinking of doing a hybrid on my next car. |

I am 100% not sold on EV's.
The up front cost essentially negates any long term savings. Because every car manufacturer is a greedy, corporate pig that wants nothing to do with saving you money. Beyond that, the mining of battery materials at the scale needed to reach these government mandated targets is unsustainable.
I have a VW with 110,000km on it, so I am hoping I can keep this until the hydrogen cell vehicles have been improved and sold more widely. I believe that is the future.
Time will tell! |

I agree. The only thing left for him to prove is that he can do it every day at the NHL level. Fingers crossed!! |

i'm not getting my car to 15% every day though. and i have solar panels on my house so i'm saving there too. not sure where you're getting the $12 to recharge your car at home numbers though. either way, saving money. plus the EV's are all very sleek and cool looking inside and out, which makes me feel special. and they sound like spaceships. It’s also got almost 300hp and drives like a cloud so it feels like a spaceship |

I feel like he was at worst completely fine in his few games this past season. He's better defensively and stronger than he's given credit for. He's not the 21 year old small, skinny kid he was 2 years ago |

Thats what the experts say it cost to recharge the car at home from the grid.
I have solar too, starting to love them, Had them installed along with 2 Tesla batteries last Oct. Havent had a bill in 4 months and banked 3K in credits already.
Jones is what he is, not sure what he is, he hasnt played enough to say he cant do it nor that he can IMO. |

I took over the solar lease when I bought the house but they didn’t have batteries. My bill is lower but it’s destroying my roof and I’d have to pay thousands to remove the panels to fix it

Solar is the best. I have no battery back-up, but my electric bill is $30 or less every month which is almost entirely connection fees. I would very much consider putting in some sort of battery bank if I was planning on staying in this house for a long time, but we'll be looking for a new one in the next year or two. |

Your bill is that low even in the summer? My bill is like 100-200 in summer with AC and pool heater running |

Great blog Jan!
I think Zac Jones will be plenty serviceable. Sure, there may be some hiccups along the way and his first full season may wear him down as it goes on. Having someone like Trouba as a partner may help him in that he's a savvy vet who knows how to manage the workload (somewhat) properly. I am excited to see what he can do.
Does Connor Mackey have an outside chance of being the 7th D man over Ruhweidal? He didnt look out of place when he was called up. I wouldn't mind seeing a few more games from him this year

For some reason I get maybe one bill a year that's like $250. Everything else is $30 or less. I had one that was $7 and change. And I have two central AC units (one smaller one for the legal apt we have). We have a due-south facing roof that pretty much gets sun all day long though so it's definitely producing probably as much as it physically can when it's sunny out.
edit: Yeah I missed the pool heater part. Yeah I'm sure that's why you're still paying something but $200/mo with a pool/heater is honestly pretty great |

I think Jones deserves a spot in the top 6. I think the rangers make the playoffs whether it’s Jones or someone else as the 6th man. If he doesn’t work out, that is what the trade deadline is for. |

that's your issue right there, don't discount all the other pool equipment too and it's drain on the power supply.
i didnt open my pool this year, and not having the equipment and heater on has made a huge difference in our summer bills.
i just pray every day for one of a huge trees on my property to fall right into it so i can file a claim and fill that (frank)er in. |

Not going to go on and on about Jones, but no I don’t think he’s the best option. Especially come playoffs |

I'd prefer Mackey too. Keep him up here for the full year and have him sub for Jones every so often. Get him some valuable experience. We already know what we have in Ruhweidal. Bury him in the minors unless needed because of injury or something
