Jeremy Laura: Predictions for Detroit’s lines seem to be imbalanced

This team somehow got softer than last season

Forwards: Top 6 should be able to score enough. Bottom 6 lack scoring and the forwards as a whole lack physicality and toughness. All forwards will need to commit to defense.

Defense: Chiarot with Seider sounds bad. Last time they tried that Chiarot sank Seider to look less than ordinary. Petry on the 2nd pair makes me want to puke...problem is who else is there to put into the top 4, Holl? Gustafsson? Simply horrible job by Yzerman not to fix this defense.

I would probably go with something like this:

Berggren - Veleno - Motte

Another option could be trading Berggren for Dante Fabbro. Nashville needs to trim some salary and Berggren will make a $1M less than Fabbro.

I think we will see multiple line combinations for 3rd and 4th … bergertime probably will see higher slotting too, with injuries.

Kasper will make the team. I like him on that 4th line with Veleno.

As for D pairing, I think Yzerman alluded to chariot and Seider. I do think much more highly of Maata than Lalonde apparently does. I think with his personality he defers to others. I think he has more to give. A couple times he did great on the o zone rush, and it made me wonder why we don’t see more of that.

Holl is going to be the 7th man, and will fill in for injuries. I don’t think Yzerman wants to drop the draft capital to unload him.

Can you imagine how happy Compher is coming into the season looking at tarasenko and Kane on his line?
