If Lindgren gets that 5 years at 5+ million per it could go down as Drury’s worst contract
- TPC

His value will never be higher than right now. I'm kind giddy to see how this goes.

I would prefer to just go year to year with Lindgren while we can. Max 2 years on a deal. Last year wasn’t good analytically for him and he gets banged up a lot. Just don’t think long term is smart

I agree with this. Hopefully EJ Emery can be on the roster in 2 years

Honestly if they do that, they probably can't afford him. If they do a short term deal, he's likely to try to max the AAV.

Not ideal.

He is a UFA after this season. If sign him for just one year, greater likelihood he is gone after the season. I know the view is he is undersized, but he does play bigger than his size and has the chemistry with Fox. Not that is the end all and be all, but a material factor.

I understand the sentiment but if Fox is reliant on Lindgren maybe Fox isn't as good as we think he is (Note: I do think Fox is as good as we think he is and think he could be even better away from Lindgren, so this is not Fox slander by any means)

Comfort is an amazing thing. Look at the Jagr Nylander thing. Management chose to go with Gomez and Drury to skate with Jagr and it never worked. Had they just signed one of them and resigned Nylander, i think we have more success and Jagr resigns with us instead of going back to Russia

Yet Jagr and Dubinksy worked. What a time.

That's a fair point.

Maybe if they resign Lindgren to a 1-2 year deal they could use some of that time to try different partners for Fox to make sure it works before separating him from Lindgren for good. He's played some time away from Lindgren but nothing meaningful that I can remember

they should give a LONG look at these pairings in camp and preseason (lindgren and jones can flip as needed)

I'll allow it. Hating Eric Staal is something Jim and Tom can agree on.
