If there was any doubt Crosby would resign we’d know by now. That’s not something you can keep quiet.

We've now entered August...the true dog days of summer for the NHL zzzzz....

Having said that, the EK trade did happened in August last year, a rare occurrence of a big trade in August.

"Perhaps this would be a way for Crosby to keep the 8/7 on his contract with a likely bump in cap hit coming and thus no 8.7M AAV."

So, he's going to sign an 8 year deal for 7 per?

I say that as a joke, but the dude will still probably be worth that going into his 40's.

So the logic is it’s easier to relax all summer with the heart and soul of the Penguins potentially being a UFA after next season? I know I love vacationing with decisions involving my future, finances and legacy hanging over my head. Makes it so much better.

Essentially it’s all Crosby’s call. I can’t see Dubas really negotiating with Sid, and I can’t see Sid being unreasonable with his demands. Seems odd. Everyone said Stamkos would definitely sign in Tampa.

TB didn't make Stamkos a real offer, hence totally different situation.

I don’t think it’s a situation where Dubas is making Sid offers. It’s whatever Sid wants. Like I said, Sid won’t be unreasonable. Sid’s obviously contemplating his future right now.

Yes, obviously Sid gets to dictate his contract. You brought up Stamkos and my comment was that his situation was totally different from Sid's, hence the fact that Stamkos left TB has no impact on what will happen with Sid. If Sid wants to stay, he's going to stay; if we wants to go, he'll go.

So it’s not just a fact Sid’s staying like everyone would have you believe?

As far as I'm concerned it's a business and nothing is a fact until it's signed on paper.. Or recorded on the end of game stat sheet...

I think Vic is right. If there was any indication at all that he wasn't going to we would have heard something by now. It's the kind of thing that gets clicks and reads, even if just speculating, and there's literally no speculation at all that he's going to leave haha

I still won't feel real comfortable about it until it's a fact and signed... Things can change in life fast...emotions and plans can change...

Trading Guentz and a less than inspiring off-season is something to think about. I still think he signs, but you can't blame him if he doesn't want to stick around just to shepherd in the next generation. That sounds romantic for the media and fans, but it sounds boring for highly competitive player.

Right, given what we've heard from every source, Sid wants to stay, but maybe he's now staring at the reality of not being competitive and having to really think about what he wants to do. Idk, but whatever Sid decides, he's earned the right to do whatever and not get backlash from anybody.

I think Crosby resigns on his Birthday which is coming up and he signs for 7,156,870 per year to put a tribute to him, Malkin, and Letang staying (taking a slight pay cut to show respect to Malkin and Letang who did the same to be competitive).

They let stamkos walk for cap space to get younger and reload for another run for a cup..Penguins will sign crosby to appease the fan base for another 3 yrs and become a malkin soon enough.

Part of me wants him to go compete. I love hockey more than I love the penguins.

I am beginning to believe hextal was slightly better than this dubas character TBH..I mean look at this list of players dubas brought in to play with the core?
Horrible decision by FSG to think dubas can do the job. And to think they made stupidas president of hockey operations???? What joke.

Yep, and i will be mentioning this ownership crap, stupidas and a wanna be GM sullivan alot more. Sid go somewhere else please..You don't need this crap dubas brings in to play with. Total disrespect for crosby and the core.

Fans say it's a rebuild, some say it's a retool..I say it's crap on ice either way since dubas arrived. Just look at the players?

PS. I know I missed a few players but you get my gist..

This is a train wreck..
