The other factor for Trouba and his wife is that they had their first child this past January. Many Rangers fans are furious at Trouba for including Detroit on his M-NTC. The fact is, he negotiated his contract in good faith. Next summer, Trouba's wife's residency will be done. I believe he'll be traded next summer in order for the Rangers to make much needed cap space for Shestyerkin, as well as Miller and Lafreniere. In the meantime, while Trouba has not lived up to his $8 Million aav contract, I don't think enough attention has been given to the fact that came back too soon from a broken ankle. I believe Trouba has a bounce back season this year. Maybe not $8 million aav good, but really good. His teammates love him and he'll have a chip on his shoulder. I think he's going to win back a lot of Rangers fans. |

This has already long past. Trouba blocked Detroit or the trade would have already happened over a month ago. Nothing changed from July 1st to now that would make Trouba reconsider. |

Detroit has no cap space for Trouba. And NYR doesn't want garbage contracts coming back if the goal is to create space to sign others to extensions. So none of this makes any sense to me. |

Pretty much agree with all of this. The ranger fans mad at Trouba for blocking a trade are idiots.
Trouba's wife has one year left on her residency and leaving the state of NY would delay that, in my understanding. That limits the teams that he would "ideally" accept a trade to (he has to give 15) to NJ, NYI and BUF. BUF is probably the only team out of the 3 that could make it work and would have any potential interest.
Next year the options become bountiful as Trouba will only have 1 year left on his deal and his wife should be done with her residency and able to go where she'd like.
Would be shocked if Trouba to DET ended up happening at this point in this offseason |

He's a defenseman that's bad at defense and carries a horrific contract, what's not to like? |

Yeah but he throws elbows at heads almost as good as Tie Domi in his prime. That's worth at least $8m/yr.

Ditto... He's Chris Pronger 2.0... same type of hits (but not as good as a defenseman).

Buffalo has 2 of the Best Brain Study and Gene Therapy Hospitals in the Country to. Roswell is building a huge Wing for Brain Study for Cancer and Other Brain Diseases and Immune Gene Therapy Study. Think from what I have read she is big into that because of Family members and what they Went through. |

I think saying Ranger fans were upset with him blocking the Detroit trade is simply silly. Sure, it's possible to get a player on a one-year deal to replace him, but there was simply no way Drury could go after a high-ticket FA a month ago. He needs all that cap space just to resign key RFAs and Igor next offseason. After doing so, there isn't any cap left...and this is with Trouba off the books this time next year.

Dude, what is going on in Ragtown? They name this dude Captain, and from the moment the finish the stitching it seems as if they’ve been slow rolling him out the door.
Say what ya want about the Rangers, but they are without a doubt one of the Premier Franchises / Brands in all of sports. For them to slap the “C” on someone from outside the franchise, someone who cut them zero breaks on a UFA Contract; only to be working the phones on him a season or two later seems crazy to me.
To be clear. It’s crazy they gave him the C.
He more than played his way onto the trade block. 100%. |

Tip of the cap on the research / insider info.
It’s always interesting to get a little peak behind the veil into what (might be, in this case) some of the more practical, nuts and bolts type of motivational drivers beyond just winning potential, aav, team construction, etc. |

Do you really think Yzerman is dumb enough to trade for a player who does NOT want to play for Detroit? I get it that it's the slow news time for the hockey world but stop making things up. |

Jesus Christ EK. News is old. Trouba already quashed a trade to Detroit. One thing for sure. I think the Rags are opening eyes to potential free agents and to how they treat their players. Drury is some kind of bumhole... |
