The Elite Prospects Draft Guide describes the 17-year-old as someone with raw talent and tools but will need time to develop his skating and creativity. He is “more of a straight-line pursuer than a creator, and he mostly spent of the year taking advantage of the opposition’s mistakes, pouncing on loose pucks and intercepting them to drive the slot”, but the belief is that those mistakes will be less plentiful as he plays in the professional ranks.

So, literally can skate in a straight line.

Put the "C" on him and plan the parade.

He's a 5th rounder, what do you expect?

I expect a Calder, a Rocket, and a Hart sweep, with a handful of Selke votes thrown in.

I know it’s not the most important thing right now, but does anyone know how the gaudreau contract works for the wife and kids?

obviously there won't be any cap hit for CLB but my guess is they'll offer the remainder of the contract to his family.

I think that's reasonable to expect from a top prospect in a cup contender system.

I highly doubt the family automatically gets the full contract amount on unplayed games in years after the death. Unless there is a clause stating otherwise.

It would be nice, but the business world is rarely nice.

He probably had big life insurance though.

you may be right, I just assumed they'd give a part of it at least to the family. it wouldn't necessarily have to be just CLB dishing out the cash, the league could also probably step in.

either that, or maybe start an initiative/foundation concerning drunk driving.

It’s a human tragedy but not a financial tragedy. He’s made over $72M. The family will be ok on that front

well they did start a gofundme in his brother's name, I figured some of the money could perhaps go towards that.

but yeah, that's generational wealth, they'll be fine for sure lol.

It's sad and tragic story from every angle you approach it. The widow and his kids won't have to worry about ending up on skid row, but no amount of financial security will replace their dad/husband.

What a (frank)ing waste. I hope they put that clown under the jail.
