JD maybe Karl Dykhius. Not remotely close to Ghost.

York maybe Petr Svboda. Not anywhere close to Brad.

GH Aarron Asham. Not anywhere close Holmgren.

Desjardin much Bette than Sanheim.

Well that is my humble opinion.

Gross overly positive on your D comparisons....none of the current 3 are going to be close to those players

Good read. For the goalies I'm guessing Kolosov is a young Bobrovsky? Ersson is Lindbergh.

Doesn't seem like there is any actual criteria for this game. Sanheim is like Desjardins. Seriously? LOL

Sanheim is more like Chris Therien. Good player who was under appreciated by fans.

Very different. They gave up good pieces to get Rantanen. Nowhere near the level of Guentzel. They gave away Necas and Drury wheas Guentzel it was Bunting and sonme prospects and picks
- xShoot4WarAmpsx

Tulsky sold Necas at peak value. Necas was already starting to fall back to earth after an unbelievable start to the season.

Over the summer if anybody told you the Canes could trade Necas and Drury and nab Mikko (frank)in' Rantanen (and Hall) you would have been laughing your ass off.

What a trade for them.

I appreciate the attempts to compare, but hockey was so much different back in the day. I like Foerster, but he's nothing like Mellanby who was one of my favorite Flyers. Mellanby played almost 20 years and was a physical player. I like Sanheim, but would give anything for him to be like Rico. Hathaway - Holmgren...no way! Hathaway is a bigger version of Keith Acton. And yes, we need a new blogger.

There is very little comparison to the Flyers of yesteryear.

Agreed! The game was much different back then. I miss those days when we hated the other teams in the Patrick Division. I looked forward to every game and was rarely disapointed.

Yeah. The rivalries were so much better with the familiarity. Every game against the Rangers and Islanders was a blood match. Even for non-Flyers rivalries, was there one better than the Red Wings and Avs in its hay day? Now, it’s just a few games a season and not much different than any other game other than the “4 point game”. I’d love to see it go back to where the teams play their division more. Without doing all the math, do something like:

Make 4 conferences (the same as the current divisions); IE Metro Conference broken down in to two Divisions (Flyers, Rangers, Devils, Islanders) and so on. Play each Division rival 5 times a year, the other teams in the conference 3 times, then the 8 teams in the “East or West” side, 2 times each and then just 2 games against two other divisions and rotate those divisions each year, similar to what the NFL does. It means McDavid doesn’t visit Philly every year, but it would foster more intense rivalries, better playoff rivalries, and reduce cost by less distance traveled.

Anyway, this is what happens when the caffeine kicks in early.

I miss them also. It seemed like every team had a villain or two. When Buffalo came to town with Ray & Barnaby you could just feel how crazy it was going to get.

Make it happen. Read JT only wants the Rangers. Shocked him being a huge culture guy wouldn't want the culture rich Flyers.

Guess MM isn't your top line winger.

Cam York is Brad McCrimmon, seriously?

First off, you’re an idiot if you actually believe this or, for that matter, that Sanheim is Eric Desjardins.

You should really stick to just making up trade rumors and trolling for hits. Oh, by the way, did the Flyers trade for Byfuglien yet?

I went to see the Victoria Royals vs the Swift Current Broncos in Victoria last night. There were 5 NHL picks on the ice, and 3 guys from Victoria expected to go in this years draft.
Jayden Kraus is a goalie, expected to be one of the top goalies in the draft, but he must have had an off night or something, because I saw nothing there last night to say NHL future. The kid that caught my eye all night was Cole Reschny, a centerman that was all over the ice last night. He is 5'10, 187lbs, but still only 17. He plays larger than his size. He is a good, fast skater, creative and aggresive with puck, 53 points in 41 games and he got an assist last night. He is projected to go early in the second round, and might be a good pick for the BJ's pick they own in the second round.

Yes indeed! I used to record the games and watch the crazy ones over and over. Then you couldn't wait to play teams like the Sabres again hoping the bad blood would spill over.
