Of Detroit’s 11 W. 4 L. Record starting December 29th, only three of those victories were wins over the top five teams in each conference. Not a tremendously difficult gauntlet.
The top five teams on either side are the true Stanley Cup Contenders.
I surmise coach McLellan would easily give a months pay to get a win against the Oilers tonight. Now the Red Wings get a true test.

LOL, one is at their absolute peak with the two best forwards in the league after six years of getting four #1s, a #2 and a #3. The other is in the toddler years of its rebuild. Calm down on the pretender vs contender nonsense. It’s a rebuilding team that doesn’t even have it’s drafted goalies on its roster yet, on a tough road trip. This isn’t DEFCON level 5 emergency stuff.
