Trying to be optimistic about this game. But beating the Oilers on home ice does seem daunting. We'll need to get some bottom 6 scoring to help us out tonight and for Talbot to stand on his head if needed. Hopefully they can keep the shots down and he won't get shelled.

This road trip is a great opportunity for Soderblom to step up and prove he belongs in Detroit. Would be really cool to see Shine get his first NHL goal too. Wings gotta stay out of the penalty box to give themselves a chance. It's good to see to the PK looking better as of late. If they can beat Florida on home ice then why not Edmonton ? They gotta make it happen though and play well defensively for an entire 60 minutes.

Of Detroit’s 11 W. 4 L. Record starting December 29th, only three of those victories were wins over the top five teams in each conference. Not a tremendously difficult gauntlet.
The top five teams on either side are the true Stanley Cup Contenders.
I surmise coach McLellan would easily give a months pay to get a win against the Oilers tonight. Now the Red Wings get a true test.
Let’s see who shows up in Edmonton, the Contenders or the Pretenders.

LOL, one is at their absolute peak with the two best forwards in the league after six years of getting four #1s, a #2 and a #3. The other is in the toddler years of its rebuild. Calm down on the pretender vs contender nonsense. It’s a rebuilding team that doesn’t even have it’s drafted goalies on its roster yet, on a tough road trip. This isn’t DEFCON level 5 emergency stuff.

When there’s another lull going to address Augustine again. An article on NHL tampering hit, and what we saw happen in NCAA with schools losing players 4 days before post season who got paid to leave. One de committed from NFL draft after being offered 3.4m to play one more year. Hoping they get Trey signed asap
