Stellar write up. Only 1 small detail Makar isn’t 2nd best D imo. Werenski has my vote no holes in his game.
Possible trade partners…
I think the Sens have to be buyers to keep pushing for the PO’s. No guarantees they are in & been so long since they have been in. The players have earned it. Give it 85% for a good vet
Leafs imo need bottom 6 scoring & 1 D to keep going all in. Asset poor a problem. Give it 100% for a minor add(s)
Canes not done it’s an all in year. Give it 90% but not a big fish trade.
Bruins need to trade but asset poor & not in a comfortable PO position. Pickem
NYI has to add but with a tight lipped LL anything is possible or nothing happens.
UFA Brock Nelson a good chip
CBJ could do something big or not at all. I’ll go with stand pat & keep growing.
Don’t have a feel on what the rest of the East might do. Top teams are looking solid the Caps I’m in the dark.
Out west it’s a mixed bag I’ll defer to y’all in here. |

Thanks Yorkie, they looked bought in and ready to do the dirty work. Let’s hope it continues! |

I can't believe how much Marcus changed things. I feel so much less worried about the de now. |

That first period they were on their heels a lot, but when they came out for the second period, different team. Clean breakouts, played with speed, Demko with some beauty saves, they stuck up for each other, it was definitely a good building block.
With their inconsistencies this year it'll be interesting if they can repeat that against SJ on Thursday. |

The two D-peteys bring stability and smarter decision making in the d-zone. MP is great at breaking up the cycle. DEP consistently looks poised and makes smart/ simple plays.
Limiting Soucy, Myers and Forbort is key. I'd like to see Mancini soon. Hopefully we never use Juulson again - maybe a contender needs depth RD?
I've seen Chytil play a handful of times but don't remember him making such an impact. He's a machine at gaining the o-zone with control and that leads to more scoring chances - it shows how largely ineffective the dump and chase system is - at least with this team.
Chytil/OConnor's speed is something we desperately needed - great pickups so far, a lot of potential upside. Great job on MGMT for addressing/recognizing each of the 3 newbies strengths and need to fill holes.

Yup - anytime Makar/MacKinnon/Necas were on the ice, they cause choas. So much skill and speed. but COL look different without Rantanen.
They don't have much depth and their bottom 6 and 3rd line D are brutal. |

Agree. It's something the team has been missing, especially from Petey. Whatever side of the fence people fall on, it's clear Petey's speed drop off is the biggest impact on his game. It's affecting everything he does. I had knee issues/tendinitis that I couldn't run on, ended up getting an MRI, went to physio for months, got PRP for... took a while to get it back right again but while I had it I couldn't do poop with it. I played a good level of sport so can't even imagine how much that would impact a pro mentally. |

The injury card. I didn't think it would be played this soon, but it's expected. I wonder if this carries into next season? If he's still on the team? |

You're like a broken record, the team just played an excellent game, so many aspects of their game were really good last night, but yes, EP40 isn't holding up his end of the bargain, what more can be said about it? He's struggling offensively. He wasn't horrible last night, he just wasn't the 11 million dollar player they're paying him to be. |

I mean, if he's (still) injured, it's not really a card to play. It just is.
But to answer your question, I would assume him and the team would have a better grasp on it and it wouldn't impact his year nearly as much... whatever team he plays for. |

Are you referring to the injury that the club had no idea about? I haven't heard any Canuck coaches or management acknowledge that he has or did have an injury. |

Maybe if they acquire that other top 6C, it will take the pressure off him playing on the 3rd line.

Brough just ripped into Petey. He's just saying why why why does this guy get every excuse when the other guys are looking better and he's still just slow and not willing to pay the price to succeed. |

I liked the game last night. This is why you don't trad Demko. Solid goaltending on most nights is way better than a DeSmith or Silovs.
EP25 is the gift no one expected. Good on Soucy for standing up with him in the scrum with Woods. Some really good hits.
I am imagining when Hughes and Willander join the team. Might be one of the better D teams in the league. Keep Soucy as Depth ( the playoffs have a lot of injuries if the team makes it.)
Chytil best forward.
Hronek best game as a Canuck.
Sutter solid game.
EP40 had a solid game last night if he was a four mil player. |

After the playoffs last year:
"Tocchet, who joined general manager Patrik Allvin in meeting with the media Thursday after all the players spoke, said that Pettersson was dealing with “tendinitis,” and explained that team brass and medical staff “felt it was fine to keep going. … We didn’t feel we had to shut him down.”"
From January (though not specific to which injury):
“I see signs after his injury here that he’s playing a solid two-way hockey game, pushing the pace harder, and he will continue to work on his game,” Allvin said. “And for me, I’m more about the process and playing the right way. And when you do so, the points will come.” |

I thought Hronek had a really solid game last night, he was good the last game I thought, but even better tonight.
Second straight game Chytil had 20+ minutes, he's been fantastic thus far. |
