Playoff teams know how to play with the lead. This team needs a few better players to keep dominating the game right to the end. I don't think it will be worth the high cost to acquire a few pieces to that puzzle right now because this team will won't go very far. But then again, Washington barely made the playoffs last year and were a quick out. But just making it made them a playoff team and a destination. They capitalized (pun intended) and made some savvy moves in the off season and look at them now!!! Maybe it is time to buy!!!

I don't think the roster moves made them any better than they were last season. The difference is the coach and the fact they were complete garbage that couldn't score with Uncle Fester proves it. McLelland is getting much more out of the same roster with a tougher schedule.
I don't think Yzerman is going to make any big moves for this season but upgrading Holl, Tarasenko and maybe a good 4th line center that can win faceoffs and solid at PK would be enough.
Find a way to convince Tarasenko to waive for Montreal and send Veleno or another 4th liner to the Habs for Evans and Armia. Then you have a PK unit right there who have more shorthanded goals than the entire Wings team combined.
Send Holl to the Preds for Schenn. Then maybe send Copp or Compher to the Blues for the other Schenn and make this team much tougher to play against.
