Crap G? Guess you havent been paying attention. I would say Florida overpaid for Jones. Especially since the Bob is like 9000 years old.

"Knight, 23, has posted a 12-8-1 record in 23 games with the Panthers during the 2024-25 campaign, recording a 2.40 goals-against average, a .907 save percentage and two shutouts. His 2.40 goals-against average ranks seventh among all league netminders that have played in 20 or more games this season. Since Jan. 3, Knight has gone 6-2-0 with a 1.66 goals-against average, .937 save percentage and one shutout. His goals-against average and save percentage both rank fifth in the NHL in that span.

The 6-foot-3, 191-pound goaltender owns a 44-25-7 record and five shutouts in 80 career games, all with Florida. His five career shutouts since his debut in 2020-21 are tied for first among all NHL goaltenders that have played in 80 games or less. He set a career best with 19 wins during the 2021-22 season, going 19-9-3 with two shutouts in 27 games. In addition, Knight has played in 58 career games with the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League, compiling a 33-19-5 record with a 2.50 goals-against average, a .905 save percentage with eight shutouts.

Knight was originally drafted by the Florida Panthers in the first round (13th overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft. Prior to being drafted, he spent two seasons with Boston College (NCAA), where he went 39-12-3 in 54 contests with a 2.05 goals-against average, a .931 save percentage and eight shutouts. In his second season with Boston College during the 2020-21 campaign, Knight was named the NCAA Hockey East Player of the Year, Hockey East Goaltender of the Year and was a Top-10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award.

The Darien, Conn. native helped the U.S. to a gold medal during the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championships, boasting a 5-1-0 record, a 1.63 goals-against average, a .940 save percentage and three shutouts. His three shutouts tied the tournament best while his .940 save percentage ranked second. Knight has also won silver with Team USA in the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championships, 2018 IIHF World U18 Championship and bronze in the 2019 IIHF World U18 Championship."

For a guy with a $9.5M cap hit and inconsistent play, and a full NMC. I'm sure Davidson took the best deal available to him. He was going to be a sideshow/distraction the rest of his time in CHI, so it was a good idea to get rid of him as soon as possible. What did you think CHI would be able to get for him?

Knight is not a crappy goalie.

Because the overpaid guy who would selfishly take shots that got blocked 5 ft away on power plays instead of passing to him is gone

Yeah I agree Spencer Knight is a good goalie. I Think it’s a fair deal considering Jones money retention. Think I’d still rather be on the Chicago side of things.

As a Blackhawks fan I absolutely love this trade. I am not one of those fans who dumped on Seth Jones either. I really like Jones he is just overpaid by a couple of million dollars. I think the Hawks just got their goalie of the future.
The organization is deep in defense prospects and now goalies as well with Knight, Drew Comesso and Gajan. They have some forward prospects as well. They need some young centers but they still have lots of draft capital and cap space.

It may not happen right away but I think the rebuild took a huge step forward today.
Remember that I really like Seth Jones as well. I think he a great second defender on a team

good trade by both teams. Knight is a very good goalie, there is a reason why the panthers inked to $4mm/yr as a backup. panthers retain a solid defensemen which they needed. Now Panthers don't need to succumb to needing to resign Ekblad for a value of his current contract of $7.5/yr currently. Ekblad is worth about $5mm per season at the most for a long term contract of 3-4 yrs.

I guess you haven't seen their current goalie, Soderblom play, the guy has had an excellent year. Time to put Mrazek on waivers

Chicago needs to eat a lot of that ridiculous salary for Seth if they're serious about moving him.

Knight is a larger size goaltender who I like better than Comesso. Knight may not ascend into the very best top tier of NHzl goaltenders but he could be pretty good. With Soderstrom I like our goaltending ....it should be good.eniugh to compete.

It is a good deal most of all because we got rid of Jones' contract even if we have to pay some of it for several years. There is now more money available with a higher salary cap which is a positive development. Someone is going to play on Bedard's line or be a key second line player and needs to be paid. As well several prospects who arrive in Chucago could very well be locked up after a year or two ....all within the period - of - time Jones is paid by us. But as far as salary cap per team, Jones' salary is under Florida salary cap even though we are paying part of it. Someone correct me if I am wrong

as a Habs fan....glad Knight is out of the division.....as far as Jones is concerned...not sure Panthers have a long term winner here....but in a playoff run he could certainly help.....I hate the Panthers...dirtiest team in the league.

Seth Jones has all the tools but no tool box. He was never a 9.5m a year player. I don’t think he is a 7m per year player. We shall see.

I think it's a great trade for both teams. One is "win now" and the other is "win later".

The problem I see is CHI putting too much stock/confidence in Bedard, who has a high probability of requesting a trade. I really wouldn't be surprised if he, via his parents, makes a request for a trade because CHI is wasting his talent. He is far from living up to expectations and the new generation usually places blame externally. It will be interesting to watch.

A true superstar rides it out (they all did)...and I don't place Bedard even close to that category.

Are you suggesting he "rides it out" like Mcdavid has done? How's that worked out for Mcdavid?
