Jeremy Laura: Detroit’s quick descent more jarring than mid season boost

Frustrating... and disappointing for sure. I have to remind myself the schedule this team has and how many other teams are still in the mix. I'm not typically a pessimist but I'm sticking to my prediction they won't clinch a playoff spot / wildcard. Hope they prove me wrong. Getting hit with injuries to both Copp and Rasmussen is not helping. That horrible penalty kill is still costing them games. The team defense has been in a downward spiral for the last 7 games. Letting in way too many goals

That first miss by Debrincat felt bad. I don’t know why, but that’s his calling card and he did a “Casey at the Bat”. Yesterday, before the game, I didn’t like Raymond’s interview (understanding the edit for time) but when asked about back checking he talked more about scoring. He and Debrincat are both obsessed to hit 30, Larkin wants to get there, he just looks slowed down. We’ll get the injury list in the summer I’m sure.

The team isn’t on the same page they were before the break. They just aren’t. Soderblom’s goal was a beauty, hard work in the neutral zone etc. just seems like a fractured room all over again at a time when that can’t be the case
