I think it’s clear Trocheck should be the 3rd line center on this team moving forward. Which means they need to find another top 6 center this summer if zib is a full time wing or moved |

He should be which is why the need Eichel in two seasons. Last year was a career year for Tro. Not repeating that |

Yep his skill set seems more defensively and faceoffs as he gets older. He can still chip in some offense but he just seems off especially on the powerplay. Don’t think on a true cup contender he is a top 6 guy as he gets into his mid 30s |

that 3 on 3 thing when they skate into the zone and then back out has really gotten old |

Agreed. Love Tro. Rangers are notorious for playing players a role above where they belong. Can’t be doing that |

speaking of that, Lafreniere is a 3rd liner, not top 6
he may actually thrive as a 3rd liner though

Agree that Laf would thrive more in 3rd line role, but the optics of him being a 1st overall/8mill -8yrs guy makes it very difficult for NYR to justify a 3rd line role |

Probably as expected, but league sources confirm that Carolina has received clarity from Mikko Rantanen's camp as far as not being ready to make a decision on the team's contract offer by Friday's trade deadline. Hence, Carolina talking to teams and seeing for real what the trade market is for him. It comes down to weighing best trade offers on the table versus keeping Rantanen as a rental... let's see how it goes. |

In light of yesterdays Tampa trade, I wonder if the Rangers can get a First for Smith? |

I think they’d have to add something, maybe a 3rd or something like that. |

Laf has top 6 talent. I think his ceiling is 60 points. he put up 57 last year and has shown he can do that.
At 23 still young enough to improve. The Rangers have one player on pace for over 70 this season. Laf 2nd on the rangers in 5v5 points.
This is more of a team wide problem than a laf only problem |

Laf’s problem/issue is he’s not elite at anything. Doesn’t have an elite shot, doesn’t have elite puck handling skills, avg speed, can be physical but most of the time chooses not to etc etc . |

I can appreciate trying to remain positive about Lafreniere but he has 5 goals in his last 34 games
he's made some nice plays and I like the physical play though

Hes actually 2nd to panarin in 5v5 points. That was an error.
They have one 20 goal scorer this year right now. He is 3 goals back from the 2nd most. Its not good but again more of a team wide suck issue this season. |

Thats why he just tops out as a 2nd line player.
Rangers only elite player is panarin. Fox and igor have not been this season. JT is close. Its why they are a WC team

He has 21 points in 29 games with seattle. He can end up a 60 point player. He has a better overall game than laf.
Laf has more offensive upside. Just has been to inconsistent

I think Matheson is a realistic guy to go after. Mtl has tons of dmen ready to move into their lineup and he does have a year after this. And he’s very reasonable on the cap. Plays close to 25 mins a game. We may not love it necessarily, but I think he’d be a target.
Byram to me is the guy we as fans should want. Or power but that seems like an untouchable for Buffalo |
