Good blog.
Love the win. I've commented before, consistency is the biggest thing with this team. One period they look like world beaters, the next they get hemmed in easily. A lot of it is mental toughness, which we see can happen when they gave up a goal even though they were up by several. This also happens when we see the go on streaks, winning or losing.
I agree Zetterland would benefit from being moved up in the depth chart, but it's hard to see where he goes right now. The third line of Greig Pinto Amadio is really clicking. Maybe taking Perron's spot on the second line, but he was brought in for secondary scoring and has started to produce as well.

It's good that they've found a 2nd-PP unit role for him, but Zetterlund was playing nearly 17min/GP in SJS (ahead of Toffoli), scored 17G (more than Eklund), and was a team-best +8. That also puts him ahead of all of Cozens, Pinto, Amadio, Greig, and Perron in terms of scoring, and cost them Ostapchuk, Gregor, a 2nd and $1.5M to acquire. I'm pretty sure 8min/GP wasn't exactly what Staios had in mind at the trade deadline, and he at least deserves a chance to show what he can do playing with better quality talent.

At this point, a loss or a slide would most certainly be the opening he would need to get a larger role. I cannot see Green doing much with ice allocation on a 5 game win streak.

Thanks for the good blog!
I hope the Sens keep up the good work. That save from Ullmark certainly made me think that his signing with us might be worth it after all. The rest of the season will put that to the test for sure. |

Good first period, ok first 10ish minutes of the 2nd and then it was all downhill from there and were saved only by ullmark standing on his head juggling bowling pins and playing the flute at the same time. This team WILL be swept in the first round if thy make it.
"One period they look like world beaters, the next they get hemmed in easily."
that is because of their crap system were all the players collapse to the center so it takes them ages to get to the puck on the boards and it tires them out as well having to hustle to try and get the puck.
as for Zet, move amadio to 4th line and Giroux to 3rd line and Zet on 1st with Stu and Brady. at least Zet can keep up with Stu, Brady and Giroux are turtles in comaparision to Stu when it comes to speed.

For the love of god, I get the "if it aint broke don't fix it" but can we please put Fabian Zetterlund in the top 6 !!!! Guy is not being used properly and Perron is what he is, he can go to the 4th line. Zetterlund needs to find traction with his team!
I'd do:
Tkachuk - Stutzle - Giroux
Zetterlund - Cozens - Batherson
Grieg - Pinto - Amadio
Perron - Gaudette - Highmore
Can swap anytime |
