Sadly there is too much UFA deadwood on the team which won't be gone until after the 2025-26 season. Maybe a buyout this summer? |

Depending on who’s ready or a pickup, maybe waivers? |

ASP will be coming over, may be too late for DRW but he could get a few games with GR in their playoffs.
I would hope that Dmitri Buchelnikov would shake his 1 year left on his KHL contract and be on his way as well! He is 15/36/51 in 62 games at Vityaz Moscow Region, KHL.
Wings could us a very speedy winger! |

I reached out, couldn’t get a quote one way or another on Buch. Definitely looking forward to ASP |

To me this will be a make or break off-season for Yzerman. He will need to improve this team a lot and one or two more bad signings will be the nail in the coffin for his GM job in Detroit if they don't make the playoffs next season.
The top 6 at forward seems ok although it remains to be seen if Kapser can produce enough to hold down the 2C.
They need an upgrade in their top 4 defense imo to push Johansson down to the 3rd pair and Holl needs to be off the roster.
The bottom 6 is a big issue. They are not very physical or tough, not good at the PK and don't chip in much offense. The bottom 6 is like a collection of players with no real purpose on this team because none of them are really good at bringing any specific skill to this team. |

Mornin'.
In reality, I feel like ASP & Buch are the best bets to exceed the ceiling. We're going to have several responsible 2-way guys and a few with grit that exceeds their weight. Thing have GOT to turn around on D. AlJo's a decent stay-at-home-ish kinda guy. Great match up w/Eddy. Bottom pairing is suspect (gave up being mean for lent.....yeah, my wife & kids laughed, too!!). Holl was wasted $$. I really feel ASP pulls an Eddy: gets a few NHL games in at the end of the season, spends some time in GR next year, is called up and stays.
Buch is so hard to assess because video, recent video, is so scarce. May need to change sensitivity on DDG, someone let me know. From what I sense, the kid's got the tools to be a Kiprisov or Michkov. Our 1st line desperately needs that flat-out beast that teleports with the puck and destroys defensive schemes. I like Marner, but if we can GROW it, I'd be happier.
We know that Cossa's a step away. Probably a 3 G set-up next season w/Talbot & Mrazek as Cossa backs up and spot-starts. I'm ok with that, but I'm really NOT a Mrazek fan. Head scratcher, that one. |

Buch’s tougher assessment is no contract and no reports from the club. There has been a surge in players wanting to make their own deals. If he just holds out on his final year he should be free and clear on signing rights. Even though “the ELC is the ELC”, player tampering is through the roof. It looks like Frolunda just got their gold helmets. Noah Dower Nilsson on that crew, didn’t put up goals (4g 6A) in 35 games but may be an AHL bound player. No clue
