This season's been such a whirl-wind. Hard to imagine that we are almost done I am TRULY looking forward to the SCPO, though. Dallas and Colorado have loaded up the truck, FLA is going to be a strong team AGAIN..... I think this will be a very strong SCPO.....

For the longest time, I was not a Great 8 fan. Then I truly watched how he plays the game. He's not typical, at all. He's more rough n tumble, but smooth on his skates. By no means am I comparing him to Gordie, but he's rougher around the edges than Wayne was - he carries himself better, if that makes sense. I like watching him. Imagine, if we had those years back he'd be pushing to close to 1,000 G, THAT'S an incredible thought. Am looking forward to watching him pass Wayne this season.....or early next.

OK, SO........the Wings. NOT making the SCPO this year. We have a good idea where we're broken and some extra cash to maybe get after those glaring hole with VIABLE UFAs. The team turned around post- Todd Father, overall a better team then the beginning of the season. Whilst I don't want to throw in the towel, I don't think we need to expect SCPO....therefore, let's see what some of the kids in GR can do. We ALSO need to bear in mind that GRG are pushing for the play-offs, so pulling everyone for a handful of games isn't realistic. Get a few of the kids up, get them some NHL ice and get them to play in the Todd Mac School of Hockey so they know what to expect in camp this Fall.

Am I disappointed we're not making the SCPO? Yeah, kinda. BUT I think we're in a better place going into UFA & summer.

The thing that gives me pause about Buchelnikov's numbers: The KHL is a noticeably weaker league today than it was during, say, Kaprizov's time there.

The vast majority of the top European KHL players from outside Russia's sphere of influence (Swedes, Finns, Czechs, etc.) got the hell out after the 2022 invasion. (Note that due to import player caps, non-nationals generally tend to be above-average players since teams need to be able to justify using one of their import slots on them.) Most of those jobs have since gone to Russians who wouldn't have otherwise been good enough to play in the KHL.

It's hard to say how much the league has gotten worse given the sudden and relatively recent shift in player population, plus Russian teams getting banned from international participation. But I think it's definitely a factor. While I think the top KHL teams are probably still the best non-NHL teams int he world, I think it's entirely possible the SHL has surpassed it in terms of average quality.

That kid is special. If you go back to the Watson interview he would so much like to have a tandem of Cossa and Augustine. He’s in the first class of kids that are being offered $$ to stay in college until they’re free agents. Of all our unsigned prospects he’s the one I’m most concerned about. Been heavily scouted and the tampering is out of control. There’s no cap on the Name, Image, Likeness money. Hoping he signs and goes to GR. The Big ten will be the (opinion) the division to watch for players paid to stay or transfer. Most money and cash rich alumni. At least 3 of the Division one hockey schools in the state have to do fundraising to keep the program going and can’t compete with money offers. A former GM said the tampering is out of control. https://www.hockeyunplugg...ampant-during-free-agency

Obviously not likely, but to be where he is stands out and is certainly noteworthy. I know there are many critics but to be where only one other player in the history of the league has been in terms of goals scored is rarified air indeed.
