Flyers brass wants to tank the rest of the season. Torts didn't want to tank, he wanted to win at least some of the remaining games.. THAT'S what he meant by saying he didn't want to learn to coach like this.

The guy went in front of the Toronto media and said he was "not interested in learning how to coach in this type of season".

I know I'm supposed to root against the Flyers, but I had hoped that Torts and the Flyers worked out. On the surface, it seemed like a good marriage. Alas.

Someone else wrote that Torts didn’t want to participate in the tank. While that may or not be true, there are two other possible reasons. One, it gives the team an excuse for the collapse, and two, any potential coaches, even current NHL coaches and or assistants can contact the team.

Hard to believe this team was once one of the premier organizations in the NHL. Now it’s a laughing stock, and the apathy as thick as concrete.
Sad, really!!

That entire "organization" is a dumpster fire. From Comcast on down.

Told from a team source that "it's fair to say" something happened between Cam York and John Tortorella in Toronto, that contributed to the coach's dismissal on Thursday morning. Was put to me that "they probably both crossed the line."
