That 51 assists and being a defenseman definitely propels Hutson in to the front runner status. |
|
|

If Michkov can keep up the pace and finish with 30 goal season he has a chance... If he remains within a few points of Hutson, he wins it from the defenceman angle... I think it will be Hutson, Celebrini, Michkov, Wolfe and Gauthier |

3 passes today for Hutson….
54 passes. |

Got Michkov in the 19th round of a draft pool, he has done great this year.
If I could pick one of those guys to be on my team, it would be Hutson, Celebrini, Michkov, in that order. |

All 4 guys….
Michkov, Huston, Celebrini and Wolf may get consideration and all deserve it. Huston or Celebrini are probably leading but there’s still a few games left. |

As a completely impartial person.
It's Wolf.
I get why Hutson is probably going to get it. That many minutes as a rookie. But his points are mostly bonus "I just happened to be on the ice" assists. He's good. An Erik Karlsson for sure.
Celebrini will probably be the most complete player but being a rookie goalie on a crap team and having that kind of success is pretty special.
Wolf. |

I believe its Hutson with a slight edge but if Hutson hits 60 assists its lights out Hutson. |

Boucher and Jackson both downplayed Hutson's many secondary assists on Saturday. |

Oh welll, Hutson is out of the running then, I guess. |

Opinion obviously, but it's clearly Hutson for me. He's doing all this being undersized and playing a more difficult position. And the real kicker for me is that he's doing it in big moments while Montreal is fighting tooth-and-nail for a playoff spot. It's a tough call for me between Wolf/Celebrini, but I think Michkov is the clear fourth out of that group. Not an insult to him either, he's extremely talented and will probably be a star but what Hutson is doing while every game is massively important puts him ahead of the pack for me. |

Hutson did not play on the PP for the first 30 games of the season
Hutson is playing on his offside, He is a LHD playing on the right side most of the season.
Hutson is 6 assists from the NHL record for a rookie D (Larry Murphy had 60, Hutson is at 54 with 9 games left to play |

Most Points by Rookie D-man in NHL HISTORY
1) Larry Murphy - 76 (1981) 44 years ago
2) Brian Leetch - 71 (1989) 36 yeas ago
3) Gary Suter - 68 (1986) 39 years ago
4) Phil Housley - 66 (1983) 42 years ago
5) Ray Bourque - 65 (1980) 45 years ago
6) Chris Chelios - 64
7) Don't care
8) Don't care
9) Nicklas Lidstrom - 60 (1992) 33 years ago
*I haven't watched a lot of Lane Hutson this year, but with 1 more point he ties Lidstrom for 10 most points a D-man has scored in his rookie season. He is on pace for 66 points, which would be the 4th best season, tying him with Phil Housely, and the best rookie season over the past 3 decades. Even Hughes (53) Makar (50) Seider (50) haven't been able to do this. I think he deserves it |
