Hopefully Yzerman is ditching the yzerplan and will start using the same plans As the Canadians and Senators use. Starts with making smart trades ( not trading Walman and a second for nothing). Removing players such as Holl and letting rookies who deserve to play get the right opportunities. Kasper would have been in the rookie of the year consideration if the Lalonde and Yzerman would have played him correctly from the start. Kane needs an offer now he has played extremely well since the change in coaching and deserves to be rewarded with a new contract. Yzerman will wait to free agency like he did with ghost lose him and replace him with a down grade. The red wings pro scouting staff should be fired immediately. Worst in the NHL.

I think, to be fair, draft and develop is still the heart of the plan. No we’re looking at 4 or 5 possible guys, some from deeper rounds, that are knocking on the door. The stop gap agents have been pretty bad. Debrincat was a good acquisition, Kane has been a huge boost, Watson plays a strong role (when they let him) but the D pickups I can live without. I think the big issue last summer was the $ debate waiting for the official cap# and then talking %. I hate that it took all summer but it cost us Ghost (opinion) as he wanted security and guarantee and Detroit didn’t have the numbers in place for Raymond and Seider. This summer is a bit different. Those 2 are core guys. I don’t see the same issue coming up. Kane has some bonus $ coming off of next year’s books, but if he wants back I hope they get him for one more season. Let Copp hit waivers, buyout Holl, Petry is expired. If Mrazek gets beat out in camp move him or waive him. Let Cossa grab a spot if he’s ready and that may help w Augustine. Would love to see Chiarot go and IF they sign a free agent bring in a top pairing D for Mo or at least a top 4 player. Trade may be the preferred route for that as UFA prices may be a little nuts
