How can anyone answer that without knowing the return? Both sides make a case for trading or not, but without the deal on the table, it’s impossible to answer.

I agree with you. For the price we're paying him we can't replace him. Now if someone was to blow the doors off with a trade proposal of course you jump but unless that happens you can't replace him for the same $$

Really don't think it is that hard.

I would have moved him. They have plenty of vets in Sanheim, Seeler and Eric Johnson was still here. Make the deal, move out the contract.

I really think Torts was a driving factor to keep some of these guys like Risto, Laughton and Peohling. Once it was apparent what needed to be done, I think Briere finally knew he had to be in charge and made the move to deal Laughton. You also heard they were shopping Peohling. I do think the Torts influence became a distraction in the tripod leadership.

I'll be curious if they shop Poehling again since he ended the season strong. Also I would love for them to send Deslauriers to AHL.

So if Lappy took the Phantoms on a deep run in the playoffs would that change peoples minds about him coaching the Flyers?

Its a pointless question. We dont even know if there was interest. What the offers were and what they entailed.

We heard the yeam was disappointed with the lack of interest and im not all that interested in retaining. Chances are any feal that existed would have sucked and people would cry like they did with the Farabee Frost trade.

Id personally have no issues with them holding on to him. I dont believe his injury will affect the Flyers ability to move him in the offseason. An acquiring team is not getting Ristolainen for training camp. They are getting him because they think he improves their team. The injury doesnt change that

Most important part of a Ristolainen deal is no retention.

No. I dont know poop about Lappy or how he is as a coach but peoples minds are made up about him. He could win the Calder cup and that wouldn't change ppls opinion

Yes, I'm a Risto fan, but was advocating for a trade a few months ago bc he was playing fairly well and figured we could get a few picks. Yea, probably 2nd round, but his injury history worries me. I'd rather get something for him than have him on the injured list every year.

Hmm...if he could take that team somewhere, I'd still be leery. I look at that team and it depresses me to see not many bright spots in our future. I don't care if a former Flyer is coach, but Lappy's coaching resume isn't impressive. That's why I don't want him, even if there's a miracle run by the Phantoms.

Caufield with a goal and an assist tonight along with a whopping ELEVEN shots on goal!! So glad Chuckles decided to grace us with York's presence!! Phantoms win to move on. Luchanko with 2 assists including an assist on the GWG. Here comes Lappy!

Ugh, York... the next Gordie Howe...or the next Ryan Parent? All jokes aside, I like York but he's 2/3 D man and a 3 on a good team. We will be paying for Hexy and Chuckles mistakes for years to come.

I threw my shoe at the TV the night that they passed on Caufield for York. In interviews you could just tell that Caufield would be "that guy" that would want the puck on his stick in crucial situations and he's loaded with talent. York is a run of the mill defender at this point in his career. I thought he was really getting his act together last season, but he regressed this year and all the blame can't be put on the evil guy named Torts.

Get your other shoe ready to throw when you see what BIUIM does in the NHL vs Luchenko

That’s what I’m thinking. I’m seeing a lot of Lappy lately. Interviews. Even the Inqy was pumping his tires. Makes me think they’re setting things up to hire him. He’s likable enough, but he’s never impressed me as a coach. What has he developed in the AHL?

Would be the Flyer thing to do and that is my worry. Tocchet has a rather large offer on the table in Vancouver and the fact that he hasn't signed it scares me too. I don't want either of these ex Flyers! They need to stop doing the same things. I might almost take Lappy out of the two if you can believe that. Tocchet had one good year as a coach and that was cause of the talent that he had to work with. It all quickly crumbled down this year, and he wasn't good in either Tampa or Arizona.

Damn, I just saw that the Oil came back and won last night. It was 4-3 when I fell asleep and was hoping the Kings held on. Get the Flyers a surprisingly high pick in the draft and I don't like Connie anyway.

What same thing? Barber, Hitchcock, Stevens, Lavy, Berube, Hakstol, Vigneault, Tortorella. Almost alternated between established NHL coaches and former Flyers players. Threw in Hakstol and doubled up on old-timer coaches for the last two. I guess they’re due for either someone new to the NHL or a former flyer? Whats John Steven’s doing these days?
