I think 29 out of 30 GMs don't make that trade if they're the Habs. |

Worst trade since Rejean Houle traded Roy. I guess Gainey falls in the Rejean Houle category now. Well no playoffs for us this year. |

So we got Gomez and his enormous salary for Higgins and Mcdonagh because all the rest in that trade was crap that will never play in the NHL. |

IMO gomez is not the impact player this trade should recieve. Gomez is not a true impact player unless he has good linemates, and is there anyone that is going to be on montreal next year that can finish? |

So what do you think EE? I really didn't mind "Higgins for Gomez straight up", but it seems with the minor leaguers that this is a win win for NYR. On the other hand, I can't wait to watch Gomez live, this guy is really exciting to watch. Under the defensive system of Jacques Martin, this could be a really really good thing in my opinion. I was/am a big fan of Valentenko. McDonough...kind of big and slow, but I don't know him well enough to comment. Higgins had his chance, 1st line, 3rd line, checker, pp, pk??? He's a great kid, but the experiment had to end sometime. Good for Higgins too.
now Blog female dog....blog...haha |

Just curious.... How many gas cans will it take to torch Gainey, his "management team" and anyone else involved in giving this deal the green light? I need to know if I should just hijack a tanker truck.
P.S. Blarney, pick me up on the way. I have much to teach you. |

Gave up too much...McDonagh? Wow.
Gomez is a 70 point guy if he has a scoring winger.
I must admit confusion...and if they got him to flip him somewhere else then it really gets bad... |

If it were Higgins for Gomez straight up, it wouldn't be as puzzling, but I'm wondering where Gainey is going with this. Surely he has more moves up his sleeve...no way he's done his off-season moves before July 1st even hits.
He hasn't offered Tanguay a contract yet either, which is puzzling, so perhaps he's got something planned for tomorrow? Who knows.. |

Charlie M :
If you happen to be right about your 'source' saying there is a Gomez for Lecavalier deal happening, I'll offer you my apologies. Until then, allow me to ignore you.

So his name is going to be Scott Gomez (as in "chez") now, right? |

Not straight up, but Montreal needs to prepare a package for Vinny and Gomez is a major piece. Rumors are rumors though my friend, keep it in mind. |

Ryan was developing slower than normal, could potentially still never make the jump. The only way this makes any sense to me is if T. Timmons has eleveated another prospect above him on the depth chart.
We'll have Scot for 5 years now, can we sign two more reasonable forwards to play with him right now?
I really wanted the twins, and I feel this will have nixed that idea, unless we can package Hammer off someplace and sign some cheaper D. |
