Once again another beauty Bill. I do not think they're done at all, and I hope they trade ersteeg to Florida to get that 3rd overall pick. |

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: Reaction to Dual Blockbuster Deals - bmeltzer
Stunning day, seeing both Carter and Richards traded. I think that all factors were considered in making these deals, both on ice and off, and that both deals, in strictly hockey terms, were fair.
I do feel that short term, at least on paper, the Flyers aren't as good. However, guys like Schenn and Simmonds have reps as being hard to play against. With the number of guys trying to prove themselves the team is almost sure to be hard to play against, if not as talented overall. |

would you have said the bruins were as good at the start of the season? and with everyone thinking thomas was an albatross with this hips, age, and salary, not to mention he wasn't even the starter....and look at them now. lunch pail crew that played hard every night and never gave up on their system, and a goalie that clawed his way to a cup. we just don't know how it will all shake out. |

You guys are going to love Schenn, but more importantly, Simmonds. I was bummed when I found out the Kings traded Simmonds. He's an ultimate team player who ALWAYS comes to the aid of his teammates. He plays hard every shift, finishes his checks, gets into his opponents' face, solid skater, has good hands, and plays an honest game. I have no doubt that he will end up as one of the premiere true power forwards in the game. He will score 20+ goals next season along with 5-10 fighting majors.
Schenn plays with heart, grit, toughness, and excellent hands for a young dude. He'll even drop his gloves occasionally. I was hoping the Kings would dump some of their European prospects, but then I realized this is the Flyers we're talking about. You guys love freaking grit and toughness, as I do.
At the end of the day, the Flyers got the better of the trade, since I have no doubt both Simmonds and Schenn will be the heart and soul of the Flyers for many years to come
With that said, Richards does immediately give the Kings a lethal 1-2 punch down the middle behind Kopitar. I'm going to miss my man Simmonds. Honest, gritty, heart and soul player |

You're the first non-Flyers fan on the internet who I've seen say the Kings didn't get the better end of the deal.
Obviously it's too early to fully judge, but I think both teams got what they wanted.

That's why I say on paper. I think that the Flyers will be tough to play against and that they will win a lot more games where they only manage one goal |

I'll miss Richie, but I'm excited about the talent we already added. And to think that we could add Dougie or Landeskog tomorrow has me salivating. |

I like you. Richards is a very good player when his mind is focused on hockey. He will be good for you, and i'm happy that he got traded there, because I really like the Kings! |

I'd really like to add Cole via FA too. He's the "character" guy this team could use. Imagine him on a line with Simmonds and Schenn. |
