Peter Tessier: Jets Game Day and Advice from the Past. Keith Tkachuk provides insight to Evander Kane on what it means to play in Winnipeg and are Burmi and Buff both back tonight?

I really do hope all the chatter about Kane dies down...he's a 21 year old kid...let it be.

If you wanna talk about him...make it his on ice stuff...lots to talk about there.

I'm hoping we answer the bell right off the hop tonight...even is Buff only plays 12-15 minutes...I'm sure the powerplay will actually be better just because he's out there.

It wouldn't shock me though if they decide to wait until tomorrow to add him to the lineup.

Awesome write-up Peter. I couldn't agree more with Tkachuk's comments, and I really am getting tired of the community ragging on Evander. Hes a young kid with an ego, acting like a young kid with an ego. Instead of piling it on him, we should enjoy watching a player of his calibur mature in our city and just acknowledge that he may have made mistakes - like we all did at his age.

Its unfortunate that as a result hes gone twitter/media mute. He brings a lot to the table on the ice, and eventually, one day will bring just as much off the ice. For those of you bashing Evander, appreciate that we have these guys back and frankly mind your own business, let them take care of it. Good luck tonight boys

OK......I get it. I don't agree with it, but I get it. Apparently all the stuff about Kane's off-ice antics are insignificant and we should all just let him be who he is. The only thing that matters is what he does on the ice.

I truly hope he can become not only the player this city hopes he can be, but be the type of human being this city can be proud of.

I will say this though. Allowing athletes (particularly young athletes) to act in any manner they choose sends the wrong message from an organizational standpoint, especially one that has already proven itself to promote a "family" culture.

I guess in every family there can be hard times. It will be interesting to see how they choose to deal with it. At some point every spoiled child needs tough love. It remains to be seen if Kane receives it from Jets' brass.

As a long time Canucks fan, we are not an organization who should be criticizing anyone's jersey.

I had the same debate with some friends last night, about how stupid we were when we were 20, now imagine we were 20 with more money than we knew what to do with and were icons in the city. I am sure most people would get caught up in stupid crap like this. The difference for him is that he is held in a big spotlight and needs to realize that. Hopefully this whole incident has.

Kane was writes a blog for the Free Press and says his idol was Sakic, hopefully he can use him as guide on how to conduct yourself in the NHL.

Great win again last night, Jets with Buff back in the line up are a different team, especially with his jump in the offensive zone.

Tonight should be a doozy. 0-8 in b2b games.
