i dont get why the team works so hard on fore check to pass the puck back to a dman, when not one dman has a shot worth all the work...its become a obvious weakness. |

It doesn't have to be a big shot at the net to be effective. A simple wrist shot on net with traffic is front is a very effective play.

yeah, but 99 percent of those are the easiest to block....they move it around pretty good back there, but ends up going the other way.
prongers shot did not get blocked much, and not to many people lay in front of weber or charas shot either. |

Players today won't hesitate to block anybody's shot, including Weber and Chara.

Bill Meltzer: Flyers Gameday: 2/12/12 @ Red Wings - bmeltzer
Good stuff. I'd like to reiterate that in addition to all this, the Flyers are playing as many as 9 rookies on any given night.
We have seen, with many rookies, hitting that rookie wall can be a problem. Playing at a high level for a full season doesn't happen for most rookie players.
Combine that with the loss of Pronger, where guys like Carle, Coburn and Meszaros go from being the junior guy in the D pair to having to carry a kid like Bourdon or Gustafsson.
Even most of the key veterans up front are young guys who have never really been top line guys for several seasons. This is Claude Giroux's first season as the top line center, Simmonds' first year as a top six wing, etc.
What you get with that much youth is mistakes and inconsistency. I'm not making excuses for anyone, it simply is what it is. Any trade, in and of itself, will not correct the issue. The guys on hand(or who are still here after a trade) must simply play better than they have. |

You want to avoid bashing time? Come up with a logical trade. You have a franchise type winger on the move, a guy with a concussion involved and at least one dude with a NTC going to a less desirable situation than he's in now. |

Bill...any word on JVR or do you think he is still trying to stay concussed thru the deadline? - section32
What's he doing to stay concussed thru the deadline, banging his head repeatedly against a wall?

I read a rumor on twitter that Howard might be able to play tonight, which obviously makes things harder. He's having a stellar year |

Some of the stuff read last night, oh boy. One response after every single loss is that the defenseman aren't good enough. Every single loss is on the defenseman. Even blaming the one defenseman back on a 2 on 1 against.

I know that you don't typically mention refs calls. But, you got to admit the call resulting form sestito fight was a mood altering event that swung the mo to the Rangers. They were playing from a hole the rest of the game. I give them credit to come backs from 0-1, 1-2.
A penalty is a penalty. Most of the time you get a bad call, you'll get one in your favor later. But this one was bad. The Flyers are a bit fragile in the confidence department.
I assume the refs get reviewed by the NHL. But is there ever any out come for the team that received the bad call. Id be surprise if that ref made it out of Philly. |
