How long before Faksa is #1 on your list kiddo?
Rupert... meh. I'll pass and let Vancouver draft him. More of their style anyways. |

Who's dad is Lukas Sutter? Do they even know anymore?
Seems like someone the Oil would take. |

That's even worse.
Not that it matters. I'll be shocked if we don't take Yakupov. Maybe if Murray wins d-man of the World championships he goes #1. |

Very good Hud. I doubt Galchenyuk goes first but down the road I bet people will back and agree with you. I dig the Faksa rise, would look damn nice in a Leafs jersey that's for sure. |

I LOVE HIM!
And I actually really like Rupert, personally.

When Timmins takes him, I'll shed a small tear.

Olli Maatta would make that game 7 loss a hell of a lot more tolerable |

You opinion on
Frk
Samulesson
Vasilevski
Subban
Sutter
Who is the best fit for the Oilers organization? - Morris
Big fan of Samuelsson and Sutter. It really depends on what the long term look is. Sutter fits that mold of a shutdown 3rd liner who just pounds you physically, while Samuelsson is likely that third line pest type.
Vas and Subban both have #1 goalie upside, but I don't liek to take goalies high because they are so damn hard to gauge early on in careers. How many #1s in the NHL were low round picks? Quite a bit. They have weird development curves.
Frk I'm not big on, but he's likely that Top 9 guy who can move around and be that total Richard bag that plays on the top line one game and down to the third next, and is capable of big points. Kinda like Marchand.

My $.02 is Sutter or Vasilevski (>Subban in my eyes) and Sam & Frk are wingers, not sure they need more (especially Frk in the small skilled variety) |

Generally I tend to value centers more-- I think they're generally harder to find, and teams want to keep them more. On top of that, their skill is pretty comparable, while Yak has the edge in speed and his shot. That being said, I think long term Galchenyuk is a #1 80-90 pt center, while Yak is a 90 pt winger.
Does the fact Galchenyuk play down the middle make him a bit more important? I tend to think so. Some don't.
Last point on it is, is that I worry about Yakupov's game and whether or not he'll be able to tone it down in the NHL. Hard to tell. |

Thanks!
I litterally no nothing about Sutter except his size and pedigree, two things that probably matter a lot to Edmonton right now. Come to think of it, Samuelsson's got that going for him too, as well as the Oil King connection (which the Oilers seem to loooove).
With Bunz's recent success and Dubnyk's flashes of brilliance, I'd just as soon pass on the goalies if they're not lights out right now. Great goalies are like the top piece of bread on sandwiches - it's still a sandwich without them, and you're best to add it last.
Marchand is a good comparison for Frk. I think like Marchand he's not so much a role player as a "star of the day". Good for a scoring by committee team. |

Rangers pretty set with their prospects. The only thing they need is a goalie for the future. Bring on Andrei Vasilevski. |

As for goalies, I'm a big believer in teams drafting them regularly (one a year), but I think you can take chances lower on. This year, I'm a big believer in Daniel Altshuller who should go fairly lower (4th Round?), and even a guy like Colin Olson who should be a bit lower than that.
Goalies take longer, so take chances and see who develops right and who doesn't. |
