For the long term. Hank's 30, so you pick up a kid who's 12 years younger who in a couple years when he comes across the pond can learn from the guy he emulates and plays like, and hopefully then becomes the starter when Hank's done.

Takes goalies what 4-5 years to make the NHL? By then Lundqvist might be going downhill.

Wouldn't they be picking 28th since the Devils will be forfeiting the 30th overall pick?

it would actually be a very wise move, I am all for it

Henrik is also a UFA after 2 more years. Not that I don't think that they'd bring him back, but it's always good to be prepared, and the Rangers are stacked in prospects up front and have probably the best young blue line around.

Especially after we sign Justin Schultz

Can someone explain the forfeiting pick thing? I've personally never come across it in the NHL. Seen it in the NBA with the Timberwolves and if I recall they just skipped them. So is there only 29 picks on the first round? Or does a team aka the worst team columbus get an extra pick?

Also, Huddle in your opinion is Dansk (and Subban and Vasilevski) good enough to warrant a high pick knowing the difficulty in drafting goallies? If so, maybe the Oilers should consider him if hes on the table at 32.

Kovalchuk became an unrestricted free agent on July 1, 2010. On July 19, after receiving offers from other teams most notably the Los Angeles Kings, Kovalchuk agreed to a 17-year, $102 million deal to remain with the Devils. The length of the deal broke the record for the longest contract in NHL history.[15] However, the contract was rejected by the NHL the next day, on the grounds that it circumvented the league's salary cap. Arbitrator Richard Bloch heard the union's appeal, and nullified the deal.[16]

Another contract was submitted to the NHL. During the early morning hours of September 4, 2010, the league approved the contract along with a new agreement with the NHLPA. The contract is a 15-year, $100 million deal.[17]

Consequently, the NHL penalized the Devils for trying to circumvent the NHL Salary Cap with Kovalchuk's original contract. As a result, the Devils surrendered $3 million, a third round draft choice in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft and one future first round draft choice within the next four seasons.

I always get my Timmy's in the morning and a Bridgehead at lunch (which has some excellent options if you haven't tried it). Its rare either tastes like tea though.

Vasilevski looks like an NHL goalie. Great size, composure and seems to like the big game. I obviously haven't seen much of him, but what i have seen impresses me. I think in today's NHL, the goalie's being big is a real factor. It'd give him the nod over Subban who is probably quicker but takes up a little less net. I'm not an expert in goaltending style either, but Subban seems to be smaller than his size suggests by how he stands while Vasilevski seems to always be upright and square to the shooter.

Does, Subban have a Quick crouch in his net? Because I tell ya, see three goalies in Toronto all standing upright and square has done nothing for me, heck both Scrivens and Reimer looked better when they were crouching, like Quick.

I'd say he more or less drops like Quick does. Again, I'm not a real goalie evaluater so I can't tell you the ins and outs but he does get beat high because he's down so much but I will say one thing. He's a competitor, similar to the Kings netminder and he never gives up on plays.

Brian, type in Reimer's top saves on google or youtube. Hey, maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to me that when goalies are attacking shooters or the puck they automatically fall into a crouch position. Ie. Reimer shuts down Staal 3/16/11

If he looks through screens he drops his head a bit, but he's always been an upright blocking goalie. I hate this "Allaire changed him" stuff, when last year it was all "Reimer is PERFECT for Allaire".

He backed up this year and played deeper because of the head stuff.

Fair enough dude. But I'm not going to back off from my belief that Allaire is not the right guy for the job anymore. I'll give him credit for what he's done in the past, same way I give credit to Cliff Fletcher for what he did in the 80's and 90's with the Flames and Leafs, but times change. And for the record, I wasn't aware that Allaire had much of an impact to Reimer's rise last year...if I recall, Reimer was like the forgotten guy behind Jonas and Jussi who got the majority of Allaire's attention.

Your last point is dead on, and I hope he can overcome it.

Never mind the fact that goalies should never be taken in the first round, but the Rangers will never draft one while Lundqvist is only 30 and this dominant. It makes incredibly more sense for then to draft a skater.
